Chipolopolo boss Avram Grant believes improving playing surfaces in the country will help players play better football.
The former Chelsea boss admitted that he was not a fan of route one football which some teams are forced to do due to the state of the pitches in the country.
Grant said he had some contacts in England that can share Knowledge with key personnel to improve Zambian football.
The Israeli tactician was speaking during a press briefing held at Football house on Monday morning.
“I think in every organisation you look at you are always working on improving. We are working on some areas that we can improve with the association. I have some contact in England with some people who can share Knowledge with the coaches and other staff members. Staff is very important now in Football, good assistant Coaches, good physical trainer, Video Analyst etc,” he said.
“The pitches need to be better, it will help players play better, less direct football which honestly I did not like. I don’t think it is the nature of Zambians, the nature is to play football.”
“But there are also positives like the spirit. It’s much higher than in other leagues. It’s a good base to build on,” he added.
Grant and Chipolopolo will be in action later this month when they host Ivory Coast at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium needing only a point to secure their first AFCON tournament appearance since 2015.
Tickets for the June 17 qualifier match can be purchased in Shoprite via CompuTicket from K20 for early birds and K50 for north and south wings. East wing tickets are pegged at K150, K200 for west and K750 for VIP.
Comment:
Levy Mwanawasa pitch is bad. The last game against Lesotho the pitch looked terrible. Embarrassing to say the least. We have a lot of water in Zambia how can we let the national pitch deteriorate like that?
