Nkana confirm the departure of Mwenya Chipepo & his AFCON legend assistant

Nkana FC have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Mwenya Chipepo and first assistant coach Christopher Katongo after the club announced that the parties had “mutually agreed to part ways.”

The development comes after both Chipepo and Katongo had been placed on administrative leave in recent weeks as pressure mounted over the club’s performances.

In a statement released by the club, Nkana thanked the two coaches for their contribution during their time at the Kitwe giants and wished them success in their future careers.

“The club thanks Chipepo and Katongo for their service and contribution during their time with Nkana FC and wishes them well in their future endeavours,” part of the statement read.

Nkana also confirmed that the interim technical bench currently in place will continue managing football operations until further notice.

Meanwhile, former Zambia national team defender Elijah Tana will continue in his role as head coach.

The record Zambian champions are expected to make further announcements regarding the long-term direction of the technical bench in the coming weeks.
