Chipolopolo midfielder Klings Kangwa has been nominated for both the Israeli Premier League Player of the Season and Foreign Player of the Season awards after an outstanding campaign with Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
The Zambia international is shortlisted for the league’s top individual honour alongside Yarden Shua and his Beitar Jerusalem teammate Omer Atzili, as well as Dor Peretz of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Kangwa has enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career, registering 19 goal contributions in the league with 11 goals and eight assists.
The former Buildcon FC midfielder has played 2,665 league minutes and has been directly involved in 26% of Be’er Sheva’s league goals this season.
His creative influence has also stood out across the division. Kangwa has created 75 scoring chances — the second-highest tally in the league — including 15 big chances, while his 52 successful dribbles are the most by any player in the competition.
The 25-year-old has also impressed in transition play, scoring seven goals within 13 seconds of his side regaining possession — the highest figure in the league — while maintaining an 87.8% passing accuracy rate.
Kangwa’s performances have played a key role in Be’er Sheva’s push for a domestic double, with the club closing in on the league title and also preparing for the State Cup final against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Shua has managed 23 goal contributions, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists, while Atzili has recorded 21 goal involvements. Peretz has contributed 17 goals and three assists for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
