Opposition Watch: Congo thump Guinea Bissau

Congo Brazaville temporary took over the lead in Group E of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier with a 4-2 win over Guinea Bissau. Kenya and Zambia play on Sunday.

A loss for Tunisia in Liberia was the only other real upset besides South Africa’s humiliating defeat to Mauritania in 2017 Afcon qualifying matches on Saturday.

Nigeria also played to a 0-0 draw  in Tanzania earlier in the day, a result that will be scrutinised by the Super Eagles faithful but which is not the worst away from home.

Nevertheless, Bafana Bafana’s 3-1 loss remains the big shock of the round so far, with more qualifiers scheduled for Sunday.

  1. Congraturations to liberia, botswana, south sudan, maritania, burundi, tanzania and seychelle. So that pipo can proof that fifa ranking is nothing and there not in order.

  2. Lwandimina is a very useless coach and man. His failure to beat the weakest team in the group guinea bissau will put us under a lot of pressure. Patson daka should never be ahead of the likes of experienced strikers like Jacob, Mayuka, mbesuma, Rodgers kola, evans Kangwa, sate sate. I mean the list is endless. Lwandimina pushed the self destruct button.

    • I now believe that you are a lunatic. Your propensity for perfection in other which is lucking your life is nauseating. Get a life a straighten up.

Congo drew with Kenya in their first game at home and Zambia beat Kenya away same as Congo beating G-Bissau away. Where do you deduce your “Useless” statement. Had we lost you would be going crazy with your sick comments.

      Get a life.

  3. It looks as though the days of big teams and upsets are over. The pattern is allover, in Europe, Africa and Asia. Some of the so called big guns have fallen, most others had to work very hard to win, very slender margins, even playing at home

Soccer history is changing big time…..yaka kana

  4. George is not a bad coach at all. The Red Arrows he drilled was a good side owing to his strengths.Their brand of soccer was enterprizing and expensive . The current Red Arrows team is not anywhere near the one that was under the tutelage of Mr. Lwandamina.Zesco is another club who are proving to be too smart for other premiership outfits in Zambia. Is it not his brains that are being applied there? Give him enough time. Like a child who learns through mistakes and experience he will mature. If Zambia will never be patient on Zambian coaches then they must be prepared to hire foreigners. Is that move sustainable ?.I don’t think so. In the wake of the Bonneti scandal, the Renard issue, let alone his assistant Indaba I personally find Zambia to be in a precarious football situation that dictates that the future of mpila Zambia lies with home grown talent. This is applicable across all football sectors in Zambia. Playing personnel, coaching and administrative personnel. With these developed properly Zambia shall be free indeed.
