Teenage fullbacks M’kandawire & Chepeshi to start against Kenya

Interim Chipolopolo Boys coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina is set to hand starting berths to two teenage fullbacks Boyd M’kandawire and Bernard Chepeshi of Napsa Stars and Red Arrows respectively Zambianfootball.co.zm can exclusively reveal.

With Emmanuel Mbola ruled out, Kitwe born and bred M’kandawire is poised to take over at left back while Chepeshi’s impressive showing for the Zambia Under-23 and in the CHAN qualifiers has seen him dislodge TP Mazembe’s Kabaso Chongo and Nkana’s Donashamo Malama at right back.

The two changes also means that Lwandamina will have a new back four as France based defence kingpin Stopilla Sunzu is likely to be partnered by Aaron Katebe who recently trekked to Morocco.

Katebe was one of the standout and positives from the home tie against Guinea Bissau.

In midfield, should everyone remain unscathed from Friday and Saturday training sessions then Kondwani Mtonga and Nathan Sinkala will be the deep lying midfielders while skipper Rainford Kalaba of Tp Mazembe and Eastern Europe based duo Chisamba Lungu and Lubambo Musonda are likely to play behind the lone striker Collins Mbesuma.zambia v kenya

Mbesuma will be asked to stick in the box while Lubambo is likely to stretch the defence with Chisamba coming head to head with Southampton powerhouse and Emmanuel Mayuka’s former teammate Victor Wanyama

Lwandamina will be hoping for his first win after the draw against Guinea Bissau who will be in action against Congo Brazaville.

On paper, Zambia are clear favourites and it should be a routine win.

On Tuesday Zambia will face Gabon at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka in a friendly match.

  1. Th lineup looks promising tho we lacking fire power on the Bench, walter bwalya th inform nkana man shuldnt hav been dropped so as to hv more options on th bench. What time is th game ba zamfoot nd on which channel?

    • In my opinion Walter Bwalya and any promising young players should be given a chance to prove themselves in the game against Gabon on Tuesday, and then we see what they are made off. I say so because playing for a club is one thing while playing for the senior National team is another, though there can be exceptions and this is in cases where a player is exceptional or extraodinary (i.e if one is in the class of Kalu, Charlie cool etc)

We ar not going to have players walking into the national team from club football, without knowing what they can offer at National level, otherwise we risk turning our Senior team into a trails National Team, like we have had certain players on trial in our Senior Team

My opinion, others may have theirs and that I will respect

  2. Imagine if we had Rodger Kola,Jacob Mulenga,Evans Kangwa and Singuluma on bench these guys would have put pressure on the starting strikers resulting in goals not abena Jack na Kalengo no fi

  3. Imagine if we had Rodger Kola,Jacob Mulenga,Evans Kangwa and Singuluma on bench these guys would have put pressure on the starting strikers resulting in goals not abena Jack na Kalengo no fire power in their legs Cletus Chama is better than these two.any way we are beating Kenya 2nil

  4. “On paper Zambia are clear favorites and it should be a routine”….smh! We are living in the past. Nothing is routine anymore, are these the authors thoughts or someone else?? A draw I’ll be a good result and a win will be a bonus considering our current form. Right now Chicken George is the best local coach and let’s see what he does having had more tha 4 days to prepare. A loss will not be shocking, but can’t wait for the game against Gabon. They looked superb and fast on the ball against Sudan, they will test our young defenders. All in all good luck to the kids!!!!!

  5. We also dont want substite players like kalaba, chisamba and lubambo coz we dont hav that quality on the bench. atleast kalengo is better.

  6. Good luck chipolopolo, zambian coaches are a problem, zesco is different fro national team, coach lwandamina must be picking players on merit, players like jackson mwanza ad a few deserve no place at that level even the way zesco is playing games, they r winning bt quality is lacking.we need an expatriate coach let ours be back- ups.

  7. Why didn’t this dull coach select kola to beef up the attack since Mayuka is.in transition. We are not going anywhere with these quacks! Congo is already leading the group.

    • plizzzzzzzzzzzzz …Roja Kola is one of the most wasteful strikers zambia has ever seen!!! Why do some fans keep on mentioning his name!?? I will never forget the CHAN 2008 in Angola. Roja Kola on a number of occasions coming face to face with a goalkeeper but failing simple tap-ins; at some point he even kicked the ground instead of the ball…DAMN!!!!! I dont remember Harve Renard using him in any match after that tournament. PLEASE LET THE ,SLEEPING DOG LIE’

  8. I do not want to believe that Mkandawire dislodged Kabaso based on his displays in the CHAN qualifiers. What was the purpose of the camp prior to the impending fixture? I guess everyone was given a proper and fair assessment at that platform.

  9. Would appreciate anyone who knows the kick off time to update me please. Will try and watch the match online but not sure kick off time.

  10. fighton has gud record in zpl from zanaco to zesco, in 2009 fighton reach the group stage in caf champions ligue with zesco beating big teams like al hilal and el mereikh of sudan, africa sports of lvory coast, ac djoliba of mali and finishd third in the group.

  11. meanwhile lwandamina failed to reach the group stage this year caf champions ligue with same zasco team, after being knockd out by minows kaloum stars of guinea, he also cost us two pints againdt guinea bissau and u are buisy praising him as a best local coach, l suspect he is yo uncle thats why u are supporting a pathetic coach, just wait u wil see him in todays game final lineup, you wil see paul katema start ahead of chisamba, and even his substitions, thats when you wil proof.

  12. we need an early goal to frustrate them. look what happened yesterday the super chickens were being held to a goalles draw by the killimanjaro stars, of tanzania and thats why they hav disapeard from our site.

  13. Am glad coz that’s th same line up n formation I proposed….but Kalaba not in th wings,he does not read th offside trap well,Chisa shud exchange wt mupa-to hv licence n free role

  14. Don’t blame the coach for the bissau he had only 3 days to prepare as some of us remember. today is the day for him to show us what his made of. i actually have complete faith in the guy based on canada 2009

  17. When the game turned defensive,i feel mbesuma should have been withdrawn for a more mobile attacker. All the same good to have 3 points away
