No excuses for our loss – Emmanuel Banda

Chipolopolo midfielder Emmanuel Banda says the team will make any excuses for their shock 2-1 defeat to Niger in Morocco on Tuesday.

Banda who took to social media to express his sadness said the team will use the defeat to build on and improve ahead of the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations

Banda said the loss away in Morocco was a bitter pill to swallow for the players.

The Rijeka midfielder feels maybe the recent good run could have put the team in a comfortable state ahead of the match against the West African nation.

“Bitter pill to swallow yesterday. We have been on a good run lately and maybe just maybe that got to us a bit. We shall not utter any excuses for our defeat yesterday but we shall build from it and improve as we head into Afcon.. We have a team capable of wonders. We believe and we hope you will believe too. Yesterday was a wake up call and we shall only get better. To a better Zambia 🇿🇲 We shall Serve.”

Zambia suffered a 2-1 shock loss away against Niger at Marrakech Stadium after their initial win over Congo in Group E.

Amadou Moutari and Boubakar Goumy scored for Niger while Patson Daka managed to get one for Chipolopolo.

  1. The technical bench should bare most of the blame. There are players like Rodrick Kabwe who didn’t perform well in the game against Congo Brazzaville, the the technical bench should have tried somebody else at left back. Do they fear to make changes? It’s their jobs at stake. If fans point something the technical bench should brood over it, to find out if it’s true! Fun and strange enough , this Rodrick Kabwe has been favourite for most coaches that coached the men’s soccer team, starting from Wedson Nyirenda, George Lwandamina, Bestone Chambeshi etc. At one time he played as defensive mid fieder, all of a sudden, he was a left back. The technical bench should drop players that are not performing, for example Cletus Chama has proved not to national team material so he should be dropped next time. Klings Kangwa , also his form has duped! Somebody else needs to be tried on Benedict Chepeshi’s number. Patson Daka has failed to improve all these years, somebody else more tactical should be tried on that number, like Kennedy Musonda! The Africa cup finals are just over a month away, so seriousness from the bench is very cardinal ! May be Moses Sichone should also be replaced since he’s not active with club!
