Nkwazi FC have returned to training as preparations intensify for the 2026 Transition League, with head coach Masauso Tembo leading the club into a crucial pre-season ahead of Zambia’s calendar transition.
The High Flying Nkwazi held their opening training session at Imboela Stadium, where the technical bench put the squad through fitness assessments, tactical drills and conditioning work as they began laying the foundations for the new campaign.
In a statement, the club said the return to training marked “an important phase for the club, with coaches and players working together to establish a solid foundation for the campaign.” Nkwazi added that the technical team would use the pre-season period “to evaluate the squad [and] strengthen team chemistry.”
Head coach Masauso Tembo expressed satisfaction with the attitude shown by his players during the opening sessions, with the club saying the coaching staff stressed that “discipline, hard work, and unity will be key to achieving the club’s objectives this season.”
The players also welcomed their return after the off-season, describing the break as “an opportunity to rest, recover and reflect on the past challenging season”, which saw Nkwazi battle relegation. They also reaffirmed “their determination to work hard and compete for places in the squad as preparations continue.”
The 2026 Transition League is set to kick off in September and will run for three months as Zambian football transitions from the August-to-May calendar to a March-to-November schedule. Nkwazi said they remain “fully focused on its ambitions and is determined to make a strong start to the 2026 Transition League campaign.”
