Nkana spoil Power’s title charge as Zanaco hold Zesco

NKana on Sunday afternoon slowed Power Dynamos charge for a league title when they beat the title contenders 2 – 1 away from home to earn the bragging rights in the Kitwe derby.

The two teams went to the break locked at 0 – 0 and Power could have taken the lead from the spot but Kennedy Mudenda saw his spot kick come off the post.

However Nkana managed to scramble in a goal through Derrick Mwansa who redeemed himself after a conceding the penalty before Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba rounded up a stellar with week with a goal for the champions to add to the goal he scored for Zambia on a national duty yesterday.

Kampamba showed good anticipation when he pounced on a poor headed back pass to lob past an on rushing Joshua Titima.

The loss for Power means that they are now joined by Zanaco on 54 points after the bankers managed to hold Zesco at home to a scoreless draw.

Despite the draw, the weekend still ended in Zesco’s favor as they extended their lead at the top to two points.

The battle for survival also continues to rage as Red Arrows, Green Buffaloes and Konkola Mine Police all recorded wins with Buffaloes mauling Nakambala Leopards 5 – 1.

  1. Jan Sikazwe handling the CAF Champions league final very well. Spot on very high quality decisions, calm and collected. A.S.V Club 2 – 2 E.S.S. FT. Is it going to extra time or straight penalties?

  2. Power abaiche twabalanga. Did I hear Prof Soccerguru pour scorn over our “offside goal” in the first leg? Moreso innuendos on Sate Sate? We’ll Sate Sate keeps answering with his feet-in the Barclays and again today. And I wish to state like I have always done that there no way Sate Sate would go 2 yrs without a goal for Zambia like some favoured strikers in the National Team. For those that want to win through goals not axes (sembes) Sate Sate is there for you if you care to be objective. Sate Sate ewabako. By the way he picked up where he left off for Zambia at the Cecafa and inked the scoreboard for Zambia. Even mu Continental Club I can’t remember the last time a Zambian player scored 5 goals. Can he please be given a special player of the year award!!!

  3. Why is it most of the things in zambia are always in reverse. They chose Jonas over Ngonga,Malabo over Kasonde of power who I feel is ready. This lad ,Bruce, is a very good player but too much EGO is not good for any talent. So we will continue to flop because the new coach, who has been third assistance for over seven years,is making a team one need not be rocket scientist to tell that something is wrong here.James, Mtonga scored so next game are in,reverse if you are building for the future ,period.

  4. @Uncle Bob how are you mate? Good observation on Sate Sate. Indeed some guys keep being selected in the National team despite not scoring for over a year as a striker? Sate Sate others
say he is ordinary but he keeps scoring goals. We only use him at National level when we play low profile friendlies.

Good win for Kalampa. It’s always sweet thumping the “old enemy” Power Dynamos.

  5. Sate Sate has set a record that has never been made by any player in the world not even Messi has done it. FAZ please push this to FIFA on our Ucer they said there was no record this one for Sate Sate is there. Scoring for national and the club within 24 hours. What a talent we are wasting

  6. 30 – 30 sometimes 50 – 50 the saviour for Nkana, oh how Nkana faithfulls literaly worship this guy. Janza should be bold enough and do the Mashaba way revamp the whole national team. Bring in young blood who will be there to impress than these proud guys who cannot even score for years. We need change now before things get worse.

  7. Brave wait until the mercurial Patson Daka starts inking the witness (net) consistently and you’ll understand that it’s not worshipping him. For now we forgive you as u don’t understand. Goals speak for him and critics have now gone into shells-kekekekekeke. Tell me any consistent scorer in the Zambian League at local league, club continental, Zambia (he’s only done kadyonko because players like Mayuka, Chamanga and Jacob no different from defenders in terms of scoring, are clearly favoured and made to feel indispensable making the country suffer-how an club inactive striker without a goal in 2yrs can still be called wasting money on tickets is beyond imagination)
