Nkana revive Confed Cup race with Al Hilal win

Nkana revive their hopes of qualifying to the next round of the Confederation Cup after beating Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman 2-1 this afternoon at Nkana Stadium. 

The 2019 Charity shield holders were caught unaware in the 7th minute when their former player Idriss Ilunga Mbombo splited the Kalampa defense with a neat pass to fellow striker Maleed Bakhet Hmanid who made no mistake to put the ball past the in rushing Malunga and put Al Hilal 1-nil up.

7 minutes later, Aba Red responded through in form Freddy El Soutra Tsimenga for an equalizer 1-1. Tsimenga has now scored 4 goal in as many matches, pounced on a loose ball in the area after Harrison Chisala failed to connect with the ball and it landed to Tsimenga who was unmarked at the far post and he put the ball into the net.

Nkana fans will have something to worry about ahead of the Kopala derby when landlord Ronald Sate-Sate Kampala was substituted for picking up an injury, Sate Sate was replaced by Simon Bwalya in the 28th minute, Simon Bwalya became the provider for the winning goal in the 75th minute when he headed the ball in the path of Walter Bwalya Binene Sabwe, Walter had nothing to do but to flick the ball past the Al Hilal goalkeeper.

The red devils held onto the 2-1 lead to record their first win in the competition. The win puts them level on points with Al Hilal and Zesco United though Zesco will play Asante Kotoko later in the evening.
