New Kabwe Warriors Chairman dreams big as he targets League title

Newly elected Kabwe Warriors Football Club Chairman, Mutale Ng’andu is determined to bring back glory days at the 107 Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium.

Ng’andu who has served the club as the part of the executive for five years now believes the club can be great again and not on just on paper or history.

The new Executive wants to ensure that they adhere to the objectives to make Kabwe Warriors great again.

In an interview with Cloud FM of Kabwe on Saturday morning, Ng’andu said he wants to ensure that the club gets back to where it used to be.

“Kabwe warriors are known to be a soccer powerhouse, it is known to be a legendary side and we have to mirror that,” he said.

“Come 2022/2023 season Kabwe Warriors will bounce back to where it belongs to and maintain the status of a legendary side.”

Not having won the league since 1987 the current regime wants to ensure that the club tops the league.

“We want to win the league, and that is what we want to work on, we will prepare adequately for the 2022/2023 season because we don’t want to be second to none,” he said.

The club recently appointed former Zambian National team Coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina as the club’s new head coach.

Ng’andu has pleaded with the fans to have patience and give the coach time to prepare and form a formidable team.

He also encouraged the fans to engage the management in the development of the team.

“We got a coach that is of high pedigree, we know for the fact that he’s got a name to protect and because of that he wouldn’t want to lose games,” Ng’andu said.

“We mean well for the team, and as Kabwe Warriors management we wouldn’t want to be leaving the stadium with our faces down, so please soccer fans let’s be together in all this.”

“Where you see a problem don’t be too quick to condemn us, pick the phone and call, advise us, give us the solutions and we will do better,” he added.

The club plans to acquire quality players once it’s commercially sound and looking forward to the season, the club will only sign the best foreign players.

“In the past years we had players that were just warming the bench, some were not even seen on the bench, but now we want the best players, such that if you don’t see them on the bench it’s probably because of an injury.”

Ng’andu went on to assure the fans that they will be given their best to put a smile on their faces and joy will be brought to them.

The last time the league title landed at the Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium was in 1987 and that was their 5th.

The Njanji-ni-Njanji fame won four league titles between 1967 and 1972 during the days of Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu.

Warriors’ last piece of silverware was in 2007 led by little known Henry Banda and then 17 year old Emmanuel Mayuka when they won their third Bp top 8 trophy in 5 years (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007)

  1. Its good to dream big, but how that dream will be achieved is another matter.
Other teams have already started intensive preparations, ZESCO is already in Mongu.
    Is KWFC doing the same?
Anyway we can only wish our team the very best in the coming season.

  2. You need financial muscle for your dream to be fully accomplished. Otherwise it will be a nightmare. Finally Mr Chairman, kindly lose some weight
