Copper Queens boss Bruce Mwape is in with a big chance to lift the CAF coach of the year for Women.
Mwape has enjoyed a brilliant with the Zambia Women’s national team since 2018.
Mwape led the team to the 2022 AWCON where he made history with the team helping them to qualify to their maiden World Cup after storming the semifinals for the very first time.
Mwape will face serious Competition from Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies boss Jerry Tshabalala who led his team to both the COSAFA Women’s Champions regional qualifier and the TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League last year.
Morocco boss Reynald Pedros and Banyana Banyana boss Desiree Ellis are also in the running for the accolade.
Skipper of the side at the AWCON, Grace Chanda has also made the top three for the Best CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award, alongside Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon and FC Barcelona and Nigeria star Asisat Oshoala who has won the award four times.
Chanda who is based in Kazakhstan has captained the Copper Queens to their first FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance at the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scoring two goals and picking up two Woman of the Match awards in matches against Togo and South Africa.
In the men’s category, Senegal star Sadio Mané is expected to win the award ahead of Mohamed Salah and teammate Edouard Mendy who is a new comer in the three-men list.
The Awards will be held in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday, 21st July 2022 at 21h00 CAT. (19h00 GMT).
