Muza told to look elsewhere as Heroes Stadium is booked for a church event

The MTN Super League team FC Muza, set to compete in continental football soon, faced a setback when the management of the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka prioritized a church program over the club’s request to use the venue.

Due to the unavailability of Heroes Stadium, FC Muza was advised to inquire about the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola as an alternative for their CAF games.

The Southern Province outfit had submitted a request to use Heroes Stadium for the CAF Confederation Cup matches, but the religious institution’s prior booking resulted in its unavailability.

What’s puzzling is that Heroes Stadium was specifically constructed for sports activities, but recently, it has been denied to sports events in favor of non-sporting events.

A few months ago, the Football Association of Zambia was forced to move the Absa Cup final between Muza and Forest Rangers to the Woodlands Stadium due to a scheduling clash with a musical show at Heroes Stadium.

This change led to ticket holders being left outside, as Woodlands Stadium’s capacity (10,000) couldn’t accommodate all the fans compared to Heroes Stadium’s capacity (60,000).

  1. Didn’t FIFA say that stadium if not worthy (for some level) of competitive games?
    May I be reminded.
Also, it is a multipurpose infrastructure, so let’s not try and say ‘religious activities are sabotaging sporting events.’ They are paying too
