Mbesuma starts 2016 on a high with a goal

Collins Mbesuma has started the year on a good note with a goal for his club Mpumalanga Black Aces in their 1 – 0 win over Polokwane City in their first game of the year 2016.

The Aces captain was on target from the spot in the second half to send his team second on the log behind Kennedy Mweene’s Mamelodi Sundowns on goal difference.

The goal was Mbesuma’s eighth of the campaign as he extended his lead on the PSL top scorers chart.

Leaders Sundowns were held to a goalless draw by Kaizer Chiefs in a game Kennedy Mweene watched from the bench.

Golden Arrows recorded a vital 3 – 1 win away against Free State Stars. Mwape Musonda and Davies Nkausu were both not named in the teams for Arrows and F State Stars.

In the lower league, Bornwell Mwape was named in the starting line-up for Amazulu when the went down 2 – 0 away against Baroka FC. Mwape was substituted in the final minute of the game.

Allan Mukuka was named on the bench.

  1. Collins is a player in form. It not about his goals, but his movements on and off the ball. Besides Winstone Kalengo, he is another players who typifies what discipline can do to ones career. From an indisciplined character to one full of dicpline. Well done and keep up the spirit

  2. Zamfoot point of correction,Mwene watched from the stands nd not on the bench as you reported….nice one from king david Mbesuma, keep scoring goals.

  3. King david must kip up working hard, dis gud for aces and zambia.mweene shud consider leavng nd join another club or com back home and pray 4 our big clubs like zesco, zanaco, power etc.it z bad our no1 choice warmñg the when qualifiers are just aroud the cornr

  4. Abram……….The way you have phrased you post sounds more like Mbensuma alone will make the team to play in Africa ( should it qualify). I thought he plays for a team (that has other players and the technical bench). There are other factors too. Anyway that is how I see it.

  5. So it looks like Allan Mukuka has choked in South Africa, not even in the PSL for that matter but the lower tier. At least Mbesuma and Bornwell are holding it down for us in the South African leagues as for the rest . I surely hope Nkausu redeems himself at Freestate stars but truth be told I’m not holding my breath.
Kola is now raking up some consistent game time so all that is left is for him to make the grade as a consistent goal scorer. I hope he steps up regardless of the fact that Kalu and company have made it a point not to include him in the national set-up.

  6. Gone are the days when Zambian players used to set the psl alight, is it that our players have become over ambitious that they don’t regard the psl as good enough for them anymore or the psl has become too good for our players?

Cletus Chama and Mwila Phiri scored either side of a Duarte Nicolau goal to lead Zambia to a 2-1 win over Angola’s Palancas Negras as both sides warmed up for CHAN finals which get underway in Kigali on January 16.
George Lwandamina fielded two different teams in each half as he assessed the preparedness of his 23-man assemblage.
With the solid performance from both sides, Lwandamina will be left with the luxurious headache of who to start when Zambia opens her campaign against Zimbabwe on 19 January.
Skipper Chris Katongo enjoyed a good chat, with good runs by Isaac Chansa, Mwila Phiri, Stephen Kabamba while the rest of the squad members strongly staked their cases for starting berths. Backlines anchored around Buchizya Mfune in the first half team and Donashano Malama in the second were as solid and reassuring as were goalkeepers Jacob Banda and Racha Kola.

  8. Captain of Black Aces and Top scorer No problem.
He has been substituted the in the last two games. Most of the goals out of the eight have been simple taps.
We have to be very calm and simply look elsewhere for Zambia’s future.
