Katongo headlines U-20 Women’s national team provisional squad for Malawi clash

Luyando Foundation Girls midfield ace on loan at ZISD Evarine Susan Katongo leads the 37-member Zambia Women’s U-20 provisional squad for the Costa Rica 2022 FIFA World Cup preliminary round qualifier.

Katongo who featured at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is part of the squad summoned by coach Charles Haalubono ahead of the preliminary round match against Malawi this month.

Other notable players include defenders Diana Banda from Luyando Foundation, Martha Katila Phiri from BUSA, Thelma Phiri from Indeni Roses, Esther ‘Gelo’ Banda from BUSA, winger Salome Phiri and Lusaka Dynamos’ pacy forward Xiomala Mapepa.

The team will enter the residential camp today

Zambia will host Malawi in the first leg of the tie on 26 September before traveling for the second leg on the weekend of 7-9 October.
