Kansanshi Dynamos will be desperate to revive their faltering MTN Super League campaign when they face struggling Mines United at Railway Stadium in Kabwe on Wednesday afternoon.
Kick-off is set for 15:00hrs, with both sides badly in need of points for very different reasons.
The Mabanga Boys head into the encounter smarting from a defeat to Red Arrows and are eager to bounce back to winning ways as they look to pull clear of danger and climb toward mid-table.
Assistant coach Dennis Makinka admits the pressure is mounting on his side to start delivering results.
โWe play Mines, we are coming from a defeat against Red Arrows. We know what is at stake โ the position that we are in โ but the good part is that we are out of relegation. We just need to start picking positive results,โ said Makinka.
Despite Mines Unitedโs struggles, Makinka expects a tough contest, noting that the hosts could play with freedom due to their underdog status.
โItโs going to be a tough game. Obviously, they are not under pressure. They play football without pressure. For us, itโs pressure after pressure.โ
Kansanshi have also endured a difficult campaign on the road, managing just one away victory all season. However, the technical bench is hopeful the team can change that narrative in Kabwe โ a venue where they have previously produced solid performances.
โWeโve been bad travellers. We only have about one win away from home. We are looking to change the narrative. In Kabwe weโve had good games and the boys enjoy playing here. We want to replicate the performances we had against Kabwe Warriors and FC Leopards,โ he added.
With the season entering a decisive phase, Makinka has challenged his players to fight for maximum points to move closer to the top half of the table.
โWe need to catch up with those in the top 10. We need to fight and get there.โ
Kansanshi Dynamos currently sit 14th on the table with 25 points from 24 matches, having recorded just one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five outings ๐.
Mines United, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom in 18th place with 14 points from 23 games. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, with only two wins, eight draws and 13 defeats, and they are winless in their last five matches.
The two sides met earlier in the campaign, sharing the spoils in a 1โ1 draw, a result that underlines how finely balanced Wednesdayโs encounter could be.
