The (FAZ) has taken a major step toward modernising matchday experience after introducing mobile ticketing for this weekend’s ABSA Cup preliminary round fixtures.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, FAZ confirmed that supporters can now purchase match tickets in advance using their mobile phones, eliminating the need for physical tickets and long queues at stadium gates.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to announce that tickets for this weekend’s ABSA Cup preliminary matches can now be purchased in advance using mobile phones,” read part of the statement.
The association described the initiative as part of its broader modernisation drive aimed at improving safety, efficiency and convenience for fans while promoting paperless transactions at match venues.
Under the new system, supporters will receive a digital QR code ticket after completing payment online, which will be scanned at the stadium for entry.
Fans can secure tickets by visiting the FAZ ticketing portal, selecting their preferred fixture, choosing ticket options, entering personal details and completing payment via mobile money or bank card.
FAZ has since encouraged supporters to purchase tickets early to avoid last-minute congestion.
“Supporters are urged to buy tickets early and avoid last-minute congestion at the gates,” the statement added.
The move aligns Zambian football with global trends where digital ticketing has become standard practice, helping curb fraud, reduce overcrowding and improve crowd management on matchdays .
The ABSA Cup preliminary round matches are scheduled for this weekend across various venues, marking the beginning of the country’s premier knockout competition.
The champions of the 2026 ABSA Cup will walk away with K1,100,000, while the runners-up will pocket K450,000.
