Kalampa ready to take spending to over K1.2 million

Zambian glamour side Nkana (Kalampa) could take their spending to a record over K1.2 million.

The 12 times Zambian Champions have made it public knowledge that they are willing to break the bank to land international defender Christopher Munthali from bitter rivals Power Dynamos.

Negotiations between the two clubs are understood to have reached an advanced stage with only the Ndeke side’s asking transfer fee of around K600 000 being the stumbling block.

Nkana tapped out Munthali and the defender was handed a 2 months ban.

Meanwhile Nkana have also opened negotiations with Mufulira Wanderers over the transfer of diminutive midfielder Jacob Ngulube, another player who was involved in a transfer saga.

Although FAZ ordered Ngulube to return to Shinde Stadium, the player is still training with the Wusakile side and wasn’t part of ‘Maite’s pre-season to Zimbabwe.

The legendary side which has produced the likes Ashious Melu, Efford Chabala, Kalusha Bwalya and Charles Musonda are understood to have told Kalampa to pay around K400, 000.

Nkana have already spent around K200, 000 on new players including Congolese duo striker Fred Tshimenga and defender Diego Apanene who penned permanent deals with after spending six months on-loan with the club.

Should the glamour side land both Munthali and Ngulube, they will replace Zesco United as the big spenders.

  1. Gabriel you’re right, visionless spending..the two players in question won’t make them win the league..

  2. Well regardless. This club needs to rethink its transfer policy. This idea of causing drama by simply having players show up and train is ridiculous and they should have been soundly punished aswell.

Not a bad move, Munthali has proven to be an effective centre back in the games I’ve seen him play for Zambia.

  3. Nkana in addition has made some really good signings beyond just Munthali and Jacob-2 Congolese, one midfielder (Ngulube-like) and a very spacy Muselepete combined with Benjamin Kawilo like winger, plus John Soko’s son at right back, a very agile keeper from Roan, a top notch scorer from the junior team who inked the scoreboard 31 times etc. Watch this space wina azalila, dont say you were not warned. Kudos to General Evaristo Kabila and team for leading the way in showing other teams of how a proper business model needs to be effected beyond just a strategy. That said, there’s room for improvement. Onus is on us supporters to now pay the K250 minimum yearly subscription
