FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has bemoaned backward practices by some clubs when hosting league matches.
Kamanga who was speaking at the opening of the two-day Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) officers National Workshop at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka.
Kamanga called on the Zambia Premier League to quickly implement and enforce the management of Club licensing to avoid things like clubs being locked out of a stadium a few hours or minutes to a match.
Kamanga said he does not expect clubs to operate in that way as we are way past such as a country.
“My appeal to ZPL and FAZ secretariat is that we need to enforce the management of Club licensing and I say so because it’s extremely worrying and almost embarrassing that in this day age that we have to read that a team got to the stadium and gates were locked because the home team decided not to deal with the visiting team,” he said.
“I think we are way past that and it’s quite a shame that in this day and age we have those things.”
“I came from Club administration about eight years ago and I would understand if those were there at that time because club licensing was in its infancy not today in 2023, I don’t expect clubs to be operating in that fashion,” he added.
In March, Mufulira Wanderers players had to squeeze themselves via a small gate in North Western Province.
The players were avoiding the main entrance for reasons best known to themselves. This happened during Wanderers’ 1-1 draw against Trident in the National First Division.
In a separate incident on the same weekend, Lumwana Radiants players also opted to jump over the gate in their Zambian Super League against Green Buffaloes at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
A Chilimba Moonga brace gun down Bilton Musonda’s Lumwana Radiants 2-1.

In May, National Division One side, Atletico Lusaka were denied entrance into Mpulungu Harbour Stadium 30 minutes prior to the match.
In February, According to a report by BolaNews Sable Bulls hosted George United in the FAZ Division Two Lusaka Province League on Saturday at Lusaka Girls High School Grounds in a match characterised by drama before kickoff.
The visiting team refused to use the designated entry point to the pitch, claiming that the home team had planted magical charms at the entrance to influence the outcome of the game.
As a result, they had to climb an approximately 6.25-foot-high fence to get on the field. The game went on and ended 1-1 with the two third-tier clubs scoring in each half of the match.
Earlier in the same month, Super League side, F.C. Muza was accused of casting a magical spell commonly referred to as “juju” in their locker rooms.
Power Dynamos avoided the locker rooms at FC Muza’s Nakambala stadium, citing allegations of a magical spell, which Muza denied.
The Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) has in the past warned teams to avoid shunning locker rooms or face disciplinary action.
