The ZPL Women’s Super League enters a decisive Week 25 with title ambitions, top-four aspirations and relegation survival all shaping an intriguing weekend of action across Lusaka, Chililabombwe and beyond.
Indeni chase eighth straight win, second spot in sight
Third-placed Indeni Roses will be targeting an eighth consecutive victory when they host Nkwazi Queens at Indeni Sports Complex in an early Saturday kick-off.
Indeni have been the form team in the second round, dropping just two points from a possible 24. Their 3-1 victory over Chipata Girls last time out underlined their growing confidence, and another win would see them leapfrog ZESCO Ndola Girls into second place—at least temporarily—with the Ndola side not in action this weekend.
However, Indeni will be without Ngosa Chabwe and Rhoda Chileshe, who are on national duty with the Copper Queens at the 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship in Polokwane.
Nkwazi Queens, 16th on the log with 16 points, are desperate for points in their bid to escape the relegation zone. They have collected just four points from their last five matches and face an Indeni side that has won four of their last five meetings. Zewelanji Nambeye, Stacey Gloria Mwelwa and Suwilanji Chibesa will be key to Nkwazi’s hopes of causing an upset.
Lusaka derby sparks as YASA host Luyando
A Lusaka derby takes centre stage at OYDC as YASA Queens welcome Luyando Foundation Girls in a fixture that has recently been defined by parity.
The last three meetings between the sides have ended in draws, and there is little to separate them again. Luyando ended a six-match winless streak midweek with a 2-1 victory over Chipata Girls and will look to build momentum through Tamika Simpamba and Elinah Mbewe.
YASA Queens, meanwhile, will rely on the creative spark of Eunice Bwalya, Taonga Mubanga and Harriet Matipa. A win for Luyando could see them leapfrog YASA and push into the top 12, adding further spice to an already finely balanced derby.
Eagles target double over struggling Amazing Grace
At NASDEC Sports Complex, Green Eagles Women host Amazing Grace FC aiming to complete a league double after a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture.
Eagles sit sixth with 43 points from 23 matches and remain in the hunt for a strong top-half finish. They will look to the attacking flair of Cindy Banda, the finishing of Rachel Moono, defensive solidity from Sante Mukwata and the midfield influence of Natasha Nkaka.
Amazing Grace, 14th with 19 points, are winless in their last five outings and need a turnaround to ease relegation concerns. Ruth Muwowo, with 13 goals this season, remains their primary threat and could prove decisive if given space.
In-form Blades host rising Assembly
Konkola Blades Queens welcome National Assembly Women to Konkola Stadium in a clash of contrasting ambitions.
Blades Queens have won four of their last five matches and sit eighth on 39 points. Chisola Ng’andu, Towera Nkhata and Nowela Mwanza will be expected to drive their push for a strong finish to the campaign.
National Assembly, 15th with 18 points, are enjoying a resurgence and will be chasing a third straight victory. Wezzy Mkandawire, Patricia Lampi and Lilian Mwaba carry the hopes of an Assembly side fighting to climb away from danger.
Pressure mounts at the bottom
Sunday’s fixtures see relegation-threatened ZISD Women host Nchanga Rangers Queens at Independence Stadium. Both sides are winless in their last three matches, but Rangers will draw confidence from their emphatic 5-0 win in the reverse fixture. Coach Charity Nthala will look to Tricia Mabamba, Gracious Tailoshi, Lungowe Namasiku and Comfort Selemani to steer the seventh-placed side back to winning ways. ZISD, 17th with 13 points, need a positive result to keep survival hopes alive.
At Nkoloma Stadium, fifth-placed Red Arrows Women entertain bottom side Chipata Girls. The Airwomen, on 49 points, are aiming to return to winning ways and keep pressure on the top four. Mary Mambwe, with 16 goals this season, leads the scoring charts for Arrows and will again be central to their attacking threat. Chipata have managed just one draw in their last three meetings with Arrows and face a stern test as they fight to avoid the drop.
Postponements
Three fixtures have been postponed: Trident Queens vs Green Buffaloes Women, ZESCO Ndola Girls vs ZANACO Ladies and Kamfinsa Blue Eagles vs The Elite Ladies.
With the race for second place intensifying and survival battles heating up, Week 25 promises high drama and defining moments in the ZPL Women’s Super League.
