Zambia Women’s national team forward Grace Chanda says she wants to have a better 2021 and make sure she makes a mark at the 2020 Olympic games.
Chanda was the top goalscorer in the qualification round of the Olympic games in Africa with eight goals helping the Copper Queens seal a maiden Olympic appearance.
“We are going to play well against South Africa, We need to push ourselves so that we can play well, We need to push the new players so that we do well,” she said.
“I want to play very well at the Olympics, I want them to be talking about me, I want to be better than last year,” she added.
The former Zesco Ndola Girls striker has also targeted the golden boot in the newly introduced FAZ Women’s national league with her new team Red Arrows Women.
“The Super League is very competitive unlike when we used to play Provincial League because it was not Competitive, and it was hard to gauge oneself against lowly opposition,” she said.
“The games that are coming ahead I can be the top goalscorer because I trust myself,” she added.
South Africa and Zambia lock horns on Saturday, 10 April 2021 in an international friendly match, The match will be played at the Bidvest Wits Stadium in Milpark with Kickoff set at 15h00. Zambia will also face Kenya’s Harambee Starlets at the month-end.
Coach Bruce will use the friendly matches as part of preparations for the 2020 Olympic games. The games are set for Japan and will begin on 23rd July 2021 and end on 8 August.
