Four youngsters back from trials in Europe

Four Zambian youngsters who attended trials in Europe in February and March are back home and already down to work at their clubs.

Sabobo attended trials with Spanish Barcelona for close to a month but since he is only 16, even if he impressed he can only sign a professional contract when he turns 18 years old in December, 2023.

The youngster is back home and will remain at Red Arrows until December 2023. He could get some minutes in the ABSA Cup.

The other player who is back after attending trials in Europe is Kafue Celtic’s Peter ‘Evra’ Chikola.

Chikola was in Austria training with Sturm Graz between 22nd February and 10th March. The ZamFoot Crew understands that he impressed but can only make a switch in June.

At Celtic, Chikola was impressive last season helping them to win promotion with 9 goals and eight assists to his name.

He was very lively last week Thursday as the Crocs came from a goal down to hold Green Buffaloes at Woodlands Stadium.

Chipyoka Songa and Jackson Kampamba were also in Europe in February for trials and have since returned home.

Kampamba is back at Shamuel while Songa has made his return to relegation threatened, Lusaka Dynamos.

Chipyoka was the one positive about Lusaka Dynamos in the first half of the season which earned him trials at South African DSTV premiership side, Cape Town City before the training camp in Turkey.

  1. It’s good to hear that these boys went for trials or whatever they call it. Which country or countries did the last two players Songa and Kapamba go to?

    • They went to Turkey. I doubted whether the two boys would make it. Basically they r not fit to attend trials at our super league clubs! I wonder who ever recommended them hoped to achieve! Let’s not send boys who are not ready otherwise our football will not be taken seriously and will be considered as time wasters. If such an opportunity arises please send deserving players from across our leagues. Picking any half baked players costs the host team and creats an impression someone is taking advantage them. European clubs are serious with their business of recruiting juniors.
