NAPSA Stars coach Muhammad Fathi believes the League is still wide open and his club will Climb up the table despite their current poor run of form.
Fathi was speaking after his team succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sensational Zanaco.
The Egyptian born gaffer explained that his team did not line up well in defense on the day and failed to utilize the chances they created both in the first and second half.
“We had an issue with the defense line we did not play our game we had chances in the first half and also the second half but we did not take our chances. We have to focus, we have a game on Saturday against Green Buffaloes and we still have some games in hand I know even if we win all our games in hand we won’t be number one but I think it will improve our position On the table and in the long run, we will manage to catch top four,” Fathi said.
The Pensioners are yet to record a win in the league and they sit bottom of the log with three points from five games. Fathi admitted being concerned with the current poor run of his team.
“It gives me to concern it does not give me pressure if I have pressure I won’t manage to move forward but it gives me concern the problems we have in defense and why certain individuals players are not putting in maximum effort and losing concentration during the game, so we are going to work on this and hopefully on Saturday we will come out of this position the league is still wide and as said am giving myself 5 or 6 games the team will be catching number 6 or 7 on the table then we will keep pushing like this,” he said.
“We will represent the club in ABSA Cup first, our target represents the club in the ABSA cup and we are going to catch up and finish in the top 6 first round,” he added.
Fathi is confident that his team will return to winning ways in the next few games.
“It’s all about concentration what I can say everything will be okay in the next three games we have to start winning before we play the second round, and when will finish our games in hand our position will balance on the table this is not our position this is not our plan but it happens in football sometimes you have a break down first 6 games than after that you pick up sometimes you have good run first 6 games then you drop at the end, its a league it’s a long run 34 games we have played 5 remaining 29 and all the teams have played 9 games us 5games so we still have some games in hand and from these games, in hand, we will pick up some points and improve our position,” he said.
Napsa has got a chance to bounce to winning ways on the local front with another local derby on the cards as they host Green Buffaloes at woodlands stadium in Lusaka this Saturday.
