Exclusive! Vandenbroeck to name a new back four against Namibia

The ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal that Chipolopolo Boys coach Sven Vandenbroeck will make wholesale changes to his starting line up in this afternoon clash against Namibia at Sam Nujoma Stadium.

Vandenbroeck is set to blend youth and experience with Superport United winger cum striker Gamphani Lungu set to make his debut as a makeshift right full back.

Gamphani has already played at right back twice for Supersport United.

With Emmanuel Mbola sent packing, MTN Super League veteran Lawrence Chungu is set to finally get his chance to start at African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Buildcon left back has been in and out of the Chipolopolo set up in the past eight years and featured for Zambia in Cosafa and CHAN games.

While Chipolopolo faithful would have gone for Kabaso Chongo at right back in order to allow Isaac Shamujompa to partner Stoppila Sunzu in central defence, the Belgian coach is set to opt for Kabaso-Sunzu axis in central defence.

Kennedy Mweene will complete the back five with the veteran and legendary goalkeeper returning in goal for the first time this year.

While it was expected that Vandenbroeck might prefer a 4-3-3, the ZamFoot Crew understands that Zambia will play a 4-4-2 formation with Nathan Sinkala pairing Enock Mwepu in midfield while Lubambo Musonda has seen off competition from Cletus Chama and Fashion Sakala to start on the right wing.

Skipper Rainford Kalaba will start on the left flank.

Orlando Pirates’ Augustine Mulenga’s is not ready to start after an injury later but the former Zanaco and Nkwazi wide man might has a cameo off the bench.

Upfront Justin Shonga and Patson Daka will be twin towers while Lazarous Kambole will have to do with a place on the bench.

Zambia Probable XI: Kennedy Mweene – Gamphani Lungu, Kabaso Chongo, Stoppilla Sunzu, Lawrence Chungo – Lubambo Musonda, Nathan Sinkala, Enock Mwepu, Rainford Kalaba – Justin Shonga, Patson Daka

    • This coaching staff is principled, keeping away from media. Not what we were used to, remember when Chris’s girlfriend visited camp… yayayayaya press conferences all over.

We DON’T need to know more about Mbola. Its enough already.
But we need to know the assistant coach’s name, pictures shows us Chintu is also an assistant coach. Good guy.

  1. Rumored lineup looks good. What’s the final lineup? Anyone got a reliable link to watch this online? We are getting no TV coverage in the USA, as our best soccer channel was cancelled. Go Chipolopolo!
