Elite Ladies have moved up to third place following an impressive 3-0 win over Play It Forward to record three consecutive wins.

Copper Queens winger Xiomara Mapepa scored for the third consecutive match to aid her team to another win.

Mapepa has scored in the first ten minutes of the match, including against Green Buffaloes, Prison Leopards Queens, ZESCO United Ladies FC and now Play IT Forward, to set the scene for a win.

Having arrived from Ndola only on  Monday morning, the Elite Ladies were fatigued but agreed to play the Livingstone side despite having to play another game within less than 48 hours of the last one on Sunday afternoon.

Despite showing signs of tiredness,Elite managed to score a second goal midway through the second half. Thelma Munkombwe headed in a Xiomara Mapepa corner for that goal.

Five minutes later, Grace ‘Njonginjo’ Tembo made it 3-0 in the 66th minute from another Xiomara assist. Munkombwe’s goal is her second of the season while Grace ‘G’ is on 6 goals this season.

Xiomara is now on 11 goals and 8 assists from the 12 games she has featured in and is second on the top scorers chart with two games to go before we reach the half-way mark of the season.

The win at Woodlands Stadium marks The Elite Ladies’ consecutive win by the score of 3-0 after the win by a similar score away to ZESCO United Ladies at Trade Fair Grounds on Sunday. The victory also means that Elite go into third position and four points to the top but with a game in hand against the log leaders.

Head Coach Patricia Masiya made only two changes to the team that won last time out with Ruth Ngoma making her first start of the season in front in place of Grace Tembo, while Comfort Selemani, was moved from central midfield to wingback in place of Margaret Mulenga, to create for Elizabeth Mupeso in midfield.

Misozi ‘Van Dyke’ Musonda, Ruth Ndala and Pauline Sepiso Zulu took their places in the back with Malawian international defender, Chimwemwe Madise, anchoring the team.

Natasha Mushiko completed the midfield trio while Xiomara Mapepa was in her favourite role of number 10 with Thelma Munkombwe completing the team in left wingback.

Chitete Munsaka was in goal and she completed her 7th clean sheet of the season.
