Zambia national team forward Patson Daka was left in disbelief after Leicester City capitulated to lose 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur from leading 2-1.
Daka who spoke to LCFC TV said if anyone told him that the match would end like that he would have not believed it but was quick to admit that it is part of the game.
“If anyone was to tell me it was going to end that way, I wouldn’t have believed that, but at the same time, it’s football. That’s why it’s a beautiful game. It can be frustrating, annoying. Tonight it didn’t go our way. We’re very heartbroken,” he said.
“When you are in this kind of moment, everyone is feeling low. The manager is there to show that he’s there for us. We just have to learn from what has happened tonight. We have to stick together. We don’t point hands. We’ve got each other, so we have to help each other to do better in the next game,” he added.
The Foxes have been hit with several injuries with the likes of John Evans, Fofana, and Jamie Vardy out while Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are in Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Daka however feels every player at the club needs to step up now and take responsibility when given a chance to play.
“It’s so unfortunate that things have happened like this. We’ve had so many injuries. Also, the players go to the AFCON. At the end of the day, we have to realize that every person who is there, as long as you’re signed for this Club, you have to be ready to take the chance and the opportunity,” Daka said.
“Everyone is here to play. When you get the chance, you have to take responsibility. You have to do everything to help the team and I’m glad that, at this point, I’m fully healed and I can do my best.”
Patson Daka opened the scoring for the Foxes, who conceded two goals in added time from substitute Bergwijn to lose 3-2 at the King Power Stadium.
Next up for Leicester City, They welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to King Power Stadium on Sunday (2 pm GMT kick-off).
