Chipolopolo to enter camp this week

The Zambia National Team will enter residential camp this week ahead of next month’s 2023 AFCON qualifier match against Comoros.

Chipolopolo boss Avram Grant is expected to name his squad for the match in the next 72 hours.

The team will be expected to enter camp either on Wednesday or on Sunday after the opening matches of the 2023/2024 MTN Super League season.

The ZamFoot Crew understands that Grant will name a strong squad despite this match being a formality as he will use it to prepare for the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which kick off in November.

The Chipolopolo Boys booked their place at next year’s African Cup of Nations in June after an emphatic 3-0 win over Ivory Coast in Ndola

Zambia who won the tournament in 2012 will return to the African Cup of Nations after an 8 year absence.

Zambia are currently top of Group H on 12 points while Ivory Coast are second on 10 points.

Comoros are third with 6 points while Lesotho have a single point.

  1. The statement thatZambia will return to the African show piece after an 8 year absence is very misleading.
The Afcon is a bi-yearly and not a annual tornament.
So the statement should better read after missing 3 consequtive tournaments.
