The Zambia national women’s team stated that the money paid to them by FAZ after their participation in the Africa Women’s Championship in Namibia is an insult.
The players who had refused to go back home but remained at the FAZ technical center complained that FAZ was even asking them to return the kit used at the championship while some vowed not to play for the national team again.
“They told us they will pay us half and we know that half of the amount should be, K6,000 not this K1,500 we are being given. This is an insult to us,” the players complained.
“We are in shock because FAZ is demanding that we return the full kit which includes jerseys, boots, truck suits bought for us by NOWSPAR and cycling shorts before they can give us our money,” the girls said.
“FAZ says they are not happy with our behaviour, we are equally not happy with their warning, this issue would not have reached this far if we were given what is due to us,” they said.
“From today I have ended my football career both at club and national team level because it is not beneficial but a sheer waste of time. I am urging my fellow girls not to take football as a career because it’s not beneficial, let them concentrate on school. To be honest FAZ have messed up my talent,” she said.
Meanwhile, FAZ communications manager Nkweto Tembwe said the Shepolopolo players have been paid what was promised to them.
“Everyone has been given part of their money as we promised on Monday and we have told the girls when to come and collect the rest of their allowances,” Tembwe said.

each team qualify to a tounament gets money frm the orgarnisers,i dont knw why faz is failing to give the queens what belongs to them,it can motivate them.
Sad situation. Saddest part is that things like this can be avoided, even worse still is the fact that the main Government guy Kambwili is prepared to pay a German foreign coach what is owed to the entire womens national team on a monthly basis. Very sad indeed.

Ba Stumpy naimwe they say Chauvanist (sp) not sexist, what is that word by the way? Faz issued a statement on their financial predicament thus their failure to pay the girls. Sad that some girls football talent will end prematurelly.
Kalusha if you want these ladies to play for free then its better you bring your sisters and your two daughters to play for free to make the country proud, if you think its fair
I repeat, that this is the most unpatriotic thing to have come out of FAZ in recent times. Petty, unrealistic and without a future. Give the girls the money owed and not threats! Better you own up that yes, we owe you this much but we don’t have it now because we have used all of it on sub-committees that over look your game instead of you the principles. If you say you will pay half, how much is half? And when are you paying the remainder?
FAZ should account for the monies from the $1 million paid by Brazil, the monies paid by Japan, monies paid by FIFA and other monies. The total is somewhere around $4 million. This Kalusha guy is funny!
I am yet to see FAZ and the minister of sport forego their paychecks in the name of patriotism. There should be contracts implemented for players participating in tournaments

He laughed at Mwanawasa and Mazoka,Thats a valid point but I dont think Mr President (remember his remainings are not yet barried,to me is still the president and all security wings are aware) laughed at them. Those who wish to pay there last respect should provide there money for transport and accomodation the funeral is simple. Indeed he was a simple man, he loved the poor!
