Relegated NAPSA Stars Interim head coach Chintu Kampamba believes his team played well in their final game, a match they drew nil-nil at Woodlands Stadium against immediate former Champions, Nkana.
The Pensioners who got relegated last week had nothing to fight for apart from pride as they hosted Nkana who were still battling relegation at the time.
Kampamba felt that his team gave it their all and had a good game against Kalampa which he believes will help them going into the National Division One next season.
“In this game, we have done so well, even though we couldn’t get a goal, there were so many positives in the game and of course we just have to take it in the next season and then try come back as soon as possible,” he said
“It’s so unfortunate that in these other games we never picked a point but the guys fought so hard and wanted it, but we tried.”
“I feel good for the boys because all the time we have been losing, but in this last game we managed to get a point and it’s something that has given them hope to come back in the next season,” he continued
Kampamba who has accepted the demotion says, they just have to reorganize, refocus and come back stronger, as they are aware that the Eden University league is quite competitive.
“We respect all the teams, and right now we just have to keep the players, work hard and plan and start pushing more so that we can come back quickly,” he said.
“It’s not going to be an easy ride, it’s going to be tough but I think we are capable of the task.”
It was a season of many ups and downs for NAPSA Stars who started the season with a maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign and reached the group stage on the first try only to be relegated at the end of it.
NAPSA finished in 16th place with 37 points after 34 rounds of matches only managing nine wins and losing 15 games.
