Six times Zambians Champions Zanaco are closing on the hiring of South African-born Gavin Hunt as their new coach, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.
The former Kaizer Chiefs coach is expected in Lusaka on Monday afternoon.
“Yes, it’s a done deal. He is arriving in the country today and he will meet with the board,” a ZamFoot Crew insider said.
The ZamFoot Crew also understands that the veteran South African coach will have a local assistant coach.
Hunt has also coached SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows.
Due to poor results, Zanaco put coach Chris ‘Mr. Takatiko’ Kaunda on administrative leave with three games to go.
Robin Munsaka took charge of the last three games and cemented the team’s CAF Champions League spot after they finished second.
The bankers and Zesco United have dominated the local league in the last two decades after collecting 15 league titles.
