Zesco United continued their dominance of Nkana when they beat the Kitwe side 1 – 0 at Nkana stadium.
The two teams have played 17 times and today’s win takes the record to 11 wins for Zesco United with the rest being draws.
From the start, Nkana looked like they were psyched to break the jinx as they played some very positive football, but it was Zesco United skipper Ben Bahn who headed home from a corner after Scott Ngokene failed to get to a cross once he had come off his line in the 33rd minute.
Nkana however continued to press and had chance first from Aubrey Chamulwanda whose free kick beat shaky Lameck Nyangu but came off the post.
Hard working Walter Bwalya placed the ball past Nyangu but saw the goal disallowed for offside in the 45th midfield.
The second half was a one sided affair with Nkana attacking while Zesco defended.
The best chance of the half fell to league top scorer Jesse Were when he dispossessed Joseph Musonda and beat Scott Ngoke with a good touch but he shot of target with the open goal beckoning to him.
Nkana remain second on the log while Zesco move into third position three points behind leaders Zanaco and Nkana having played a game less than Zanaco and two less than Nkana.
The win is a morale booster for Zesco United ahead of this Saturday’s CAF champions league game against Al Ahly of Egypt.
Aside the not so convincing display, Zesco will also be sweating on the fitness of Congolese striker Idriss Mbombo who was substituted due to injury.
Nakambala Leopards moved into 9th position after beating relegation threatened Lumwana Radiants.
Lumwana played part of the game with 10 men after the sending off of goalkeeper Joel Kanyemba who head butted the referee.
Ignatious Lwipa scored from the spot for Nakambala while Wasanga Mhango scored the lone goal for Radiants.
Green Buffaloes also beat Red Arrows 1 – 0 in a defense affair.
Adrian Chama scored the only goal of the match.
Buffaloes go fourth.

The writer of this article must be a Nkana fan. You’d expect the story to center on how Zesco played and won but it’s all about Nkana. Shame
shame indeed. It’s a known fact that Zamfoot is very biased towards Nkana. On another note. Nigeria is in another mourning of former Nigerian national teach coach Amodu shuab.
it’s business as usual as defending champion zesco beat nkana by a lone goal in Kitwe.
Good one zesco. Now it is time for caf champions league.
Coach Shuaibu Amodu a 4 time Nigeria super eagles coach is dead. He died on Friday, 3 days after the death of coach Keshi. He qualified Nigeria for the 2010 world cup in South Africa. He died at age 58.
Keshi was his assistant in 2000. Keshi died at age 54.
Coach amodu was part of the nff entourage that paid a visit to Keshi’s family. He even signed the register on thursday but he also died a day after.
What is killing former Nigeria coaches?
I think it is all these fake prophets and they are now killing innocent coaches in order to sacrifice their blood. If you google the top 10 richest pastors you will find that more than half are Nigerians…I am not hating, just observation and it’s getting alarming when people are dying without being sick or no signs of being sick. Yes there are heart diseases that catches people with zero warning, but one has to wonder what’sup in Nigeria.
Somebody is killing these Benin city born Nigerian celebrities
I sais it yesterday that nkana will be beaten 1-0 today and it has come to pass.Go go zesco
George chicken is the devil of zambian football..
Chicken, Kabwe or any other local baffon should stay away from Zambia national team. Useless Kamanga will be impeached if he thinks he now owns Faz.
It is natural to die. If you don’t accept that fact you will end up trying to blame every death on others.
To Bad 4 nkana
