Green Buffaloes Womens have been crowned Cosafa Champions League winners after beating Sundowns 6-5 on post match penalties.
The tightly contested final ended goalless after exta time as Buffaloes displaced the South Africans in their own territory.
Charles Halubono’s side finished the tournament unbeaten and didn’t concede.
Both clubs will be heading to Morocco for the African Champions League.
Heading into the game, Coach Charles Haalubono made two changes to the team as Memory Nthala dropped to the bench and was replaced by Theresa Chewe while injured Anita Mulenga was replaced by Agness Musesa.
Green Buffaloes had the better chances in regulation with Hellen Chanda getting close twice . Natasha Nanyangwe also came close but her effort went wide.
Sundowns had to finish the match with ten players after Oratile Mokwena was given marching orders following a second yellow deep in the second half.
After ninety minutes, Extra time came into play with Sundowns looking as the more adventurous side. Extra time could not separate the two teams and penalties were called upon.
Buffaloes went on to win 6-5 on post match penalties with Aisha Mbwana saving two spot kicks. Lushomo Mweemba’s spot kick was saved by Andile Dlamini while Memory Nthala ballooned her effort.
Ireen Lungu, Agness Musesa, Martha Tembo, Judith Zulu, Maylan Mulenga and Benaya scored for the Zambian Champions.
