Zambia Women’s National Team is currently in camp preparing for two upcoming friendly matches against Banyama Banyama and Kenya’s Harambee Starlets ahead of the 2020 Olympic games.
Speaking to the ZamFoot Crew, head coach Bruce Mwape said he has a full house and that all the players are in camp citing that there are some new players which he will give them to chance to showcase their abilities.
“Our second session has a full house all the players have reported for duty only that two are at football house still fighting for their tickets,” he said.
“We have assembled a lot of local players actually others are from U17, we are trying to give them some time to play if they impress they will be considered for the Olympic games.”
“We have new players in the team so they deserve a stiff competition so playing a strong side like South Africa will give the girls a good test,” he added.
Coach Mwape was also quick to mention that the team will be missing several senior players such as Marry ‘Ratsa’ Mwakapila who has been unwell from the time the team got back from Chile as well as those who ply their trade in Spain because they have club engagements over the weekend.
The coach concluded by saying that he will utilize the friendly games to work on his defense considering that there are a lot of changes in the team.
South Africa and Zambia lock horns on Saturday, 10 April 2021, The match will be played at the Bidvest Wits Stadium in Milpark with Kickoff set at 15h00.
