Brendan Rogers heaps praise on excellent Daka

Leicester City boss Brendan Rogers was full of praise for Patson DAKA following his first English Premier League start over the weekend.

Daka put up a brilliant performance in the 78 minutes he was on the pitch.

The Zambian forward won the ball 25 yards from goal, he fed Harvey Barnes who darted into the box, and cut it onto his right foot before placing it through the legs of Ezri Konsa and into the bottom corner to hand his side an early lead.

Rogers was left very impressed with the Chipolopolo forwards overall play and went on to say that he was a constant threat for the Villa defense.

“Very well. I thought Patson was excellent. His pressing was really good. He linked the game really well. He was a constant threat. He did really well for the opening goal. So I was really pleased with him,” he said.

“We put Jamie on and moved him to the side just to keep that goal threat, but it doesn’t quite suit him, so hence we made the change. But overall I thought he was excellent.”

Daka has played six Premier League games and has a goal and two assists to his name while scoring five in five Europa League matches.

Rogers has been rotating his squad heavily and confirmed that it was going to continue given the number of players available to him especially in attack.

“We’ve got so many games. There’s not too many players who will be playing every single game, especially our strikers. I don’t think there’s anyone in the team that can be guaranteed to play every single game, or else you can never reach the intensity level that you want,” he said.

“I thought Patson came in and did very well. We now look forward to Napoli. We’ve got Jamie, who played half-an-hour today, he can be fresh for that game. We’ve got Kels and Patson, so all three are available.”

“It’s a new game, so we’ll analyse Napoli going forward, and we’ll always pick the best team we think to win the game.”

Daka started upfront for the Foxes and was a constant threat for the Villa defense before being switched to the wing after the introduction of Jamie Vardy in the 65th minute and eventually being withdrawn for Ayonze Perez 13 minutes later.

The Foxes will now shift their attention to Thursday’s final UEFA Europa League Group C fixture.

Leicester City head to Napoli’s Diego Armando Maradona Stadium after which their Premier League campaign resumes against Newcastle United at King Power Stadium on Sunday.
