Asanovic makes three changes as Saddam, Kalumba and Joshua Mutale start

Zambia national team head coach Aljosa Asanovic has made three changes to the team that edged Senegal 4-3 in the semifinals of the ongoing 2022 COSAFA Championship.

Patrick Gondwe, Cyril Mwenya Chibwe and Prince Mumba drop to the bench and in comes Power Dynamos tricky midfielder Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale, Charles Kalumba, Saddam Yusuf Phiri respectively.

Ricky Banda continues to lead the attack supported by ZESCO United duo of wing wizards Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba and Spencer ‘The Prince of Choma’ Sautu.

Asanovic has maintained the back four of Benedict Chepeshi, Luka Chamanga, Allan Kapila and Dominic Chanda.

Saddam Phiri and Mutale join new ZESCO United man Kelvin Kapumbu in the middle of the park.

Kickoff at the Iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium is at 19H00 central African time.

Zambia is eying a sixth COSAFA Cup title while Namibia are aiming for their second title having won their first one back in 2015.

Zambia last won the tournament back in 2019 under Green Eagles boss Aggrey Chiyangi with Lazarus Kambole, Bruce Musakanya, Sebastian Mwange, Austin Muwowo, and Tapson Kaseba as the key players.

  1. As I indicated yesterday in Zamfoot news, the goal-keeper needed to be benched, hes a good goalie but he lacks seriosness. Even I as coach would have benched him.

  2. You can’t fault the commitment. A very tricky Zambian team just lacking on breaking down a disciplined Namibian defence.
