Zesco United have issued a statement to clarify the position of their head coach George Lwandamina who has allegededly signed for Tanzanian top side Young Africans.

Zesco have stated that they gave their head coach took some days off to attend to a family bereavement and he would be in breach of contract if he went outside the country to negotiate another contract when his contract runs up to January next year.

Below is the statement from Zesco United…..

Zesco United would like to acknowledge receiving Media reports suggesting that head Coach, George Lwandamina is in Tanzania having talks and at the verge of signing a two year contract with Young Africans Sporting Club.

Lwandamina has a three year running contract that expires in January 2017 and the club has not entered into negotiations to have the contract extended and Lwandamina has not communicated his intentions at the end of the contract.

As far as the Club is concerned, Lwandamina is in Monze attending a family bereavement as he stated on Sunday when he sought permission to leave from the Team Manager, Mr Mabvuto Banda and is expected to return to camp today for the midweek rescheduled game against Nkwazi FC in Lusaka tomorrow.

Zesco United would like to state that if indeed these media reports are true, Lwandamina will be in breach of his contract with the club, we believe he is a professional and is expected to behave as such.

We believe that he is aware of his contractual obligations and implications of a possible breach.

    • Headless with Chipolopolo yes but the man did well with Zesco, losing out 3-2 in the semi of Africa’s biggest club championship has increased his value Egwugwu…headless yes because his contract runs out in January 2017 and he should have bargained for a new contract two months ago…both him and Zesco have been unprofessional in this matter…in football where results matter contractual terms are discussed even a year or two before the current one runs out…he knows his present value and Zesco didn’t see that, I would do exactly what Chicken has done!

    • Aphiri to be in a position where you know your job is running out in two months time and your bosses are saying nothing is stressful…while the next company is saying we will pay you more for your services…imaginary chililo ku Monze becomes a reality!!

  1. Zesco, don’t tell us that his contract is running upto January. What are the terms of the contract? Is it that either part can terminate the contract or not. Just have an agreement and then you can part company. Lwandamina has to make more money in his pockets.
