Zesco suspend Mwanza, Sakuwaha and Zulu

Zesco United players Jackson Mwanza, Jonas Sakuwaha and Justin Zulu today appeared before the club disciplinary committee for abrogating camp rules.

Zescounitedfc confirmed that the three are alleged to have sneaked in alcohol on Sunday 20th September at Chrismar hotel after the Barclays cup quarter finals and the camp for the rescheduled week 23 match.

However Zesco United wishes to refute the story quoted in The Post newspaper dated October 8, 2015 and authored by Oliver Chisenga which suggests that the players brought women in camp.

At no time during the interview did the Club Secretary Justin Mumba mention that the named players sneaked in women.

The correct picture of the incident is what is quoted in the Zambia Daily Mail.

“It is sad that the Post Newspaper reporter has decided to write the story according to his imagination and not what I told him during the interviews, the team is not even in camp for the Semifinals yet so the sources he spoke to are lying to him. As a club we did not want to say anything about it until the case hearing so that we give people the true picture” Mumba said.

The Post reported that their source indicated that the players were visited by girls who brought in bears.

“Jonas Sakuwaha, Jackson Mwanza and Justin Zulu, when the team was in camp during the Barclays Cup were dropped from camp for the game against Nkwazi. They were asked to leave camp for indiscipline. The club disciplinary committee will sit tomorrow to decide on their fate. They brought some friends in camp and those friends brought in alcohol. They came with alcohol in their rooms, which is not allowed. We don’t allow visitors and alcohol in camp, [we] hope this will serve as a lesson to others,” the Post quoted Mumba.

“At Zesco United no one is bigger than the club; this is the reason the technical bench decided to do without them in the games against Nkwazi, Nchanga Rangers and Green Eagles. As secretary we will not allow any form of indiscipline from any player. All players are expected to work within the frames of the code of conduct at the club. Finally, the date for the disciplinary hearing has been set for tomorrow (today) and their case will be heard,” Mumba said.
