Zambia has dropped two places on the latest Coca Cola/FIFA Mens FIFA Rankings released in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday morning.
The Chipolopolo are now ranked 78 in the World and 18 in Africa.
In African Cup of Nations opposition watch, Congo is ranked 59th while Kenya is 103rd with Guinea Bissau at 147th.
Zambia’s best ranking came in February 1996 after the African Cup of Nations in South Africa when the Roald Paulsen’s side was ranked 15th in the World.
Between 1993 and 1999, Zambia was always ranked below 40.
There after, Zambia has best ranking was a position 34 following the triumph in Gabon in February 2012.
Cape Verde is still the top ranked team in Africa with Ivory Coast and Algeria second and third respectively. Ghana and Tunisia complete the top 5 while Senegal, Egypt, Congo DR, Congo and Cameroon are in the top 10 in that order.
Nigeria and Guinea in 11th and 12th respectively with Uganda, South Africa and Mali following in that order.
Equatorial Guinea and Benin are also ahead of Zambia and Herve Renard’s Morocco is 19th with Gabon completing Africa’s top 10.

Fyalipena mu Zambian football
Even in Africa we can’t do better sure?????
Useless ranking very useless in did.cape vade ranked number one in African this is the joke of the century
Meanwhile Cape Verde is not complaining…when it comes to the world cup group stages, they will be graded and will avoid a host of African power houses!
But what is the late Burkhard Ziese doing in this foto. Any connection with the story??????
Throwback Thursday! And a reminder when football in Zambia started to decline.
Great!!!!He was very instrumental in downing Zambia!!!!That game in Bobo Dialasou, the Sunshine Tours caped with Pies for lunch as preps, the change of the captaincy on the eve of a major tournament!!!!!Well, may his soul rest in peace!!!!
And this is the character who started playing Bubble Malitoli, a striker, on number 5!!!!!Remember that game against Nigeria under the so called floodlights!!!!!
the undefeated Goro ranking is not useless, Zambia is useless under this local coach, if we need to do better we need new coach, FAZ is all corrupt
we need to play alot of high profile friends.
giant in Africa indeed
Mayuka scored for Zamalek
@gen. You need a NEW TEAM
Call it a free fall from grace …..From 15 th in the world to 78th , awe mwandi.
Let’s work on beating the 1996 when we were second in Africa n 15 in the world.
In 1996,Chipopolo were first not second,if they had won in Congo Brazaville they were going to be in 10 in the world that year and it was the last match for Ronald Poulsen.
@ The Gaffer…thanx for the correction.
every time being droped! benin & uganda cant ranked on top of us.
I still have this jersey replica. It was great! Not the current poor mosaic light green stripes which looks like “spanki” from the mines! Ba Mordo, we miss your caliber and type of players we had with the Kapambwes, Jericho, Dominic Mutale, Kelvin Mutale, Jack Chanda, Yellowman Mulenga, Fighton, Golden Kazika, Beston, Libya, Mannix Emmanuel Mwape, Chabala, Gibby Mbasela,Bubble and the like. Please give these pretenders your videos!
Lol free fall like kwacha
