Zesco United forward Lazarus Kambole says the team has gone to South Africa for a win as they hope to progress to the group stage of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Zambian giants have not had the best of luck against South African opponents having been eliminated from the the 2016 CAF Champions League semifinals by Khama Billiat led Mamelodi Sundowns.
A year later it was Thuso Phala who inspired Supersport United to eliminate the Ndola out-fit in the quarter finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. Kambole however expects this time to be different.
” We are going there for a win despite the poor results we have recorded in the past. This time we want to win and make it to the group stage,” he said.
The Zesco United goal machine has also revealed that the team will target an away goal to increase their chances of progressing to the group stage.
“Our target is to score an away goal that will give us an advantage. The job is not yet done so we will go for a straight win and not just to defend,” he said.
Zesco United beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Sunday but will have to work extra hard to maintain their lead and avoid elimination at the hands of yet another South African opponent.

Zesco will go through, nkana as well.
