NKANA president Everisto Kabila says striker Walter Bwalya will feature in Saturday’s Super Division Week 18 match against Mufulira Wanderers whether the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) likes it or not.
But FAZ communications manager Desmond Katongo said they will crack the whip if Bwalya is featured on Saturday.
“If they go ahead and use Walter Bwalya then consequences will follow. We wrote to them [Nkana] and they understand Walter’s status,” Katongo said.
Kabila said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that all documents concerning Bwalya have been availed to Football House.
“What else do they want? We have given them the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) after we obtained it from his former club in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The boy has been cleared, so what is FAZ talking about?
“They went further to ask for documents of Walter’s signing from the time he joined Forest from Lubumbashi Sports. What else do they want? They need to let the boy continue with his football career.
“On Monday they requested him to go to Football House to be interviewed but today [yesterday] he is back in Kitwe because no-one attended to him,” Kabila said.
Kabila wondered why Bwalya’s case has attracted attention from Football House when a lot of players are featuring in the league without ITCs.
“What is so special about Walter? Take a survey on a number of local teams, especially these with foreign players, and see how many have ITCs. You will be shocked to find out that many do not have.
“We are going to use Walter on Saturday whether FAZ likes it or not. This issue has affected the team and it needs to be put to rest,” he said.
Last month, former Lusaka Dynamos chief executive officer Simataa Simataa wrote to FAZ alleging that Bwalya was not eligible to play in Zambia because he did not have an ITC. This prompted Congolese side Lubumbashi Sports to demand a transfer fee from Nkana claiming that Bwalya, who is still registered in DRC under the names Binene Sabwa, was their player.
Lubumbashi threatened to take the matter to FIFA because Bwalya was playing for Nkana illegally as his ITC was still in DRC.
The Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship withdrew Bwalya’s national registration card because it established that the player is from DRC.

PATIENCE BA NKANA NO UBUFONTINI .
What names are on ITC which Nkana got from Lubumbashi?
Poor choice of words ba Nkana, ati “whether they like it or not”. Faz may just decide to apply the full cpnsequencesof theming haveing used an illegal player. They can be docked of points from the time he started playing. where will that leave you ba Kalampa – Div 4 i suspect !
It is funny to listen to a top club rep talking as if they are more powerful than the national football umbrella body. That is a sign of I’ll discipline. It is not late to reverse the words bambo.
FIFA will be quite amused if Walter continues to play in the FAZ league, their affiliate! Without any id documents. whether he is Congolese or indeed Zambian as he claims! Nkana r indeed stupid.
He’s congolese.
One player /person with two names! Binene Sabwa & Walter BWALYA! Interesting which of these names are his real? Which Nationality does he belong?
Faz am sure they bone to chew with NKANA. Nkana did not buy Walter Bwalya from Lubumbashi fimofimo they got this huu from Forest Rangers. What isF Fazs problem? When he played for Forest there was noProblem but playing for NKANA there is a problem noe. Desmond kitongo careful with what speak. Pk
Okay Nkana, feature him then.
Yes nkana should choose their words wisely on this matter
On the other hand
If the faz has all the documents concerning the player why are they quiet on the matter
As to the player having more than one name this shouldn’t be the issue
Many people have five or more names it’d not illegal to have more names
Nkana knows this player is important to them
The games are coming fast hence FAZ should consider this as a matter of urgency
If nkana are guilty punish if not let the boy continue to play
Fi Nkana ubupuba bweka bweka. Why can’t you just abide by the Football Association’s rules and regulations? You will be banned and you will lose out. Why can’t you just wait? This Congolese obtained a Zambian NRC fraudulently and wanted to play for Zambia without an ITC. Thats fraud and in other serious countries, the home affairs would have moved in, arrest and deport him, or banned from playing international football. You’re no more important than any other team in Zambia. What’s so special about you? Nonsense…
That kasai was registered as Binene Sabwa Heritier. In Zambia he changed to Walter Bwalya registered as a Zambian with a fraudulent NRC. Those foreigners Nkana is talking about are registered as foreigners, not as Zambians and they are registered with their real names, I mean, I presume. Thats the difference. We know they are foreigners. As for Heritier Binene Sabwa, apart from faking citizenship, he was an illegal immigrant. He is even lucky he hasn’t been banned. In fact FAZ and the Zambian home affairs dept have been too lenient with Nkana.
Who knows? May be Kabila could be right – there could be a lot of players featuring in our league without ITCs. If that’s the case, then a can of worms is just about to be opened. An ‘ATOMIC BOMB’ is just about to be unleashed on FAZ which could bring our league into disrepute.
Even his accent tells it all Walter or binene whatever his real names are, It can be true that many players in our supper league are playing illegally i can see Nkana fc are desperate to play Walter.
Well, I’m just glad he never put on a Zambia jersey in any competitive fixtures
What’s wrong with Ronald Sate kampamba- no longer prolific in front of goal???
Let this Walter BWALYA confess that he is a Zambian & prove us wrong ? with evidence!,,,,,,
NKANA striker Walter Bwalya has cried foul over his delayed clearance by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to restart
his career at the Wusakile club.
Bwalya, who was at the centre of a duo nationality saga that culminated into FAZ stopping him from featuring for Nkana, now feels unfairly treated by the national football governing body.
The matter has now been resolved following Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) side Lubumbashi Sports Club’s issuance of an international transfer certificate (ITC) for the player.
He will play under the names Walter Bwalya Binene Sabwa and now wants bygones to be bygones so that he can help Nkana, whose cutting edge has been questioned since he was frozen out of the team.
“I don’t know what to say my brother Mathews [author], this issue has really disturbed me. We have given FAZ all that they requested for but I am shocked to read in the paper that I am still not cleared. This is not fair.
“The general secretary [Ponga Liwewe] called my president [Everisto Kabila] that I should go to Lusaka for interviews on Monday and I went but I was told he [Liwewe] is in Morocco and the following day I went back home [Kitwe].
“So what should I do now? This is very sad, my career is being affected and my team is also being affected because they need my services. The league is very tough this season,” Bwalya said.
And in a letter to the FAZ general secretary yesterday, Nkana acting chief executive officer Mutale Kapwepwe asked Football House to clear Bwalya.
“Following your instructions concerning the player, Nkana wrote to FAZ requesting to resolve the matter at club level as per procedure which you accepted as an association and it was agreed that the best way to amicably sort out the issue was for the clubs, in this case Lubumbashi Sport of Democratic Republic of Congo, Nkana Football Club and Forest Rangers to meet and agree and also formalise the international transfer certificate for the player.
“As a club, we initiated the process and convened a tripartite meeting involving the three clubs at which an agreement was reached and the three parties signed a contractual agreement declaring that Walter Bwalya Binene Sabwa is a Nkana player. Further, Lubumbashi Sport sent a clearance release letter to Nkana confirming the said player as a Nkana Football Club player. These documents were sent to FAZ and you have them at Football House,” Kapwepwe said.
He also claimed that they have received reports from DRC that some FAZ officials are trying to block the final release of the ITC.
Kapwepwe alleged that some FAZ officials are working with some football agents to sell Bwalya abroad.
WALTER BWALYA – BINENE SABWA!
