U-17 boss George Chilufya says his team is adapting to the weather conditions in Port Elizabeth

Zambia U-17 national team coach George Chilufya says his boys are adapting well in Port Elizabeth and looking forward to their opening game against Comoros.

Chilufya was speaking after the junior Chipolopolo boys’ second training session in South Africa. The weather conditions have not been so favorable as it is raining and very cold in Port Elizabeth but Chilufya is not very moved.

“The first session was a bit tricky but in football, we say expect the unexpected, am sure the boys did adjust we had our first training session yesterday in the rains, of course, we have a rain session in Zambia the boys are used except the coldness,” Chilufya said.

“We thank God the Association (FAZ) has done everything possible to make sure we have the right attire so far so good and I think today we stepped up everyone looked in shape we are getting used to the weather,” he added

Chilufya says they are focusing on tactics and paying a lot of attention to detail.

“The first session we had was specifically for acclimatizing and it was a bit difficult looking at the type of weather which is here near the ocean the weather is humid a bit heavy but today they looked much much better,” he said.

“We are taking each detail very seriously it’s More tactical we are looking at tactics we did our conditioning back home and now we are just looking at tactics,” he added.

The young Copper Bullets will open their campaign against the Comoros Islands on Friday, before a crunch meeting with Malawi two days later. They finish their pool play against Botswana on Nov. 25.

The top two teams in each pool advance to the semifinals.
