Former Ivory Coast international Solomon Kalou has cautioned Morocco against underestimating Zambia, warning that the Chipolopolo are capable of producing surprises once they step onto the pitch.
The Copper Bullets will go head to head against the Atlas Lions on Monday in Rabat.
“I speak from experience. They did it to us in 2012 and went on to win the trophy,” Kalou warned.
Now working as a SuperSport pundit analysing AFCON matches, Kalou was part of the star-studded Ivory Coast squad — alongside Didier Drogba, Yaya Touré and Sol Bamba — that lost the 2012 AFCON final to Zambia.
Despite Morocco boasting a galaxy of stars such as Brahim Díaz, Noussair Mazraoui, and a fit-again Achraf Hakimi, Zambia are once again being viewed as underdogs.
The two sides face off at 21:00 in the final Group A match.
Morocco top the group with four points, while Mali and Zambia are both tied on two points, setting up a decisive encounter.
Comoros is bottom with a point.
