The 2025/26 MTN Super League continues this weekend with several intriguing Week 23 fixtures across the country as teams chase the title, continental places, and survival.
Kabwe Warriors host ZANACO in blockbuster clash
One of the standout matches on Saturday will see Kabwe Warriors host ZANACO FC at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.
The match carries extra intrigue as ZANACO head coach Numba Mumamba faces his former club for the first time since leaving Kabwe Warriors together with assistant Noel Mwandila in January last year.
Mumamba expects a difficult encounter against a Warriors side currently enjoying a strong run of form.
“Another important game that we have is against Kabwe Warriors, the team that we are coming from. We expect a tough game playing Kabwe Warriors at their home ground. We have done our homework to make sure that we prepare our team so that they are ready for Kabwe Warriors tomorrow,” Mumamba said.
Both teams head into the fixture in good form. Kabwe Warriors have won their last three matches, scoring seven goals and keeping clean sheets in all three, while ZANACO have won three of their last four games.
Despite Kabwe’s recent surge, history favours the Bankers who have recorded 21 victories since 2006, compared to Warriors’ nine wins, with seven matches ending in draws.
Kabwe Warriors will be without Kilian Kanguluma due to a family bereavement, while Issah Kazembe misses the clash as he is on loan from ZANACO. The hosts will rely on Saith Sakala and Francis Banda for attacking inspiration.
ZANACO, meanwhile, will be without Isaac Shamujompa, Araina Lambert, and Fredrick Mwimanzi due to injury and illness.
Kansanshi Dynamos fight for survival
In Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos welcome Mufulira Wanderers at Independence Stadium as they attempt to climb out of the relegation zone.
The Solwezi-based side currently sit 14th with 22 points, while Wanderers are 5th with 37 points, highlighting the magnitude of the challenge ahead.
Assistant coach Dennis Makinka remains optimistic despite the pressure.
“We’ve been looking at the table and obviously after yesterday’s games we dropped back into the relegation zone. But we still have a lot of games to play. We have about 12 matches remaining,” Makinka said.
Mufulira Wanderers will look to the attacking trio of Joseph Tumbwe, Paul Tembo, and Patson Kwataime to secure maximum points away from home.
MUZA face title-chasing Red Arrows
At Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka, FC MUZA host second-placed Red Arrows in another compelling encounter.
MUZA sit ninth with 28 points and will be desperate to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat, while Arrows are targeting victory to strengthen their title challenge.
Red Arrows boast several key players including defender Michee Malonga, midfield general Alassane Diarra, and attacking options Joseph Phiri, Ackim Mumba, Angel Lubamba, alongside league top scorer Albert Kangwanda.
Military derby sparks interest in Kabwe
Another interesting fixture will see FC Leopards take on Green Eagles at Presidents Stadium in Kabwe.
Green Eagles coach Perry Mutapa believes Leopards remain dangerous despite their struggles this season.
“It’s a very dangerous team to play. Like you have said, they are in the relegation waters, so it’s not going to be easy. But for us, I think we have found that rhythm and we want to continue with that,” Mutapa said.
Eagles will be without defender Bornface Sunzu, who suffered an injury in their last match against Nchanga Rangers.
Green Eagles head into the game unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins and a draw, while FC Leopards are searching for their first victory in three games.
Nkana look to end losing streak
At Nkana Stadium in Kitwe, Nkana FC welcome Konkola Blades in a crucial Copperbelt derby.
Interim coach Elijah Tana says the team is fully fit and ready to bounce back after three consecutive defeats.
“We are 100 percent fit. Everyone has pushed and we are ready for Sharp Razor,” Tana said.
Nkana will be boosted by the return of captain Harrison Chisala and midfielder Patrick Chooma, though Patrick Gondwe misses the game through suspension.
Konkola Blades arrive in good form after beating ZESCO United 1–0 and are unbeaten in their last seven matches.
Nchanga Rangers host Mines United
Elsewhere, Nchanga Rangers will be hoping to bounce back from their 3–1 loss to Power Dynamos when they host Mines United at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
Rangers could climb to third place with a victory should results elsewhere go their way, while Mines United are searching for their first win in five matches.
Sunday fixtures continue the action
The action continues on Sunday with Nkwazi FC hosting in-form Mutondo Stars at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.
Nkwazi sit 16th and are winless in four games, while Mutondo Stars are unbeaten in their last seven matches.
Elsewhere, NAPSA Stars take on Green Buffaloes at REIZ Arena.
The weekend concludes with a major clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium where ZESCO United host Power Dynamos.
The match will mark the first game in charge for interim coach Winston Kalengo following changes to ZESCO’s technical bench.
ZESCO United enter the fixture on a worrying four-match losing streak, while league leaders Power Dynamos arrive unbeaten in their last seven games, setting up another fascinating battle in the MTN Super League title race.
