Shumah brace powers Abayellow to victory as Nchanga edge NAPSA; Buffaloes, ZANACO share spoils

In-form Kenyan forward Moses Shumah was on target again, scoring a brace to guide Power Dynamos to an entertaining 4-2 victory over FC MUZA as Week 23 of the continued on Sunday.

Frederick Mulambia and Brian Masanyinga added a goal each for the defending champions, while Francis Mukuka and Given Kalusa scored for MUZA.

Shumah opened the scoring in the 7th minute at , finishing confidently to give Abayellow an early lead.

Mulambia doubled the advantage five minutes later to put the hosts firmly in control.

MUZA responded just before the break when Mukuka pulled one back in the 44th minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.

The visitors came back strongly after the restart and found the equaliser in the 49th minute through Kalusa.

However, Shumah restored Powerโ€™s lead five minutes later, powering home a superb header from Chifundo Mphasiโ€™s trivela cross to make it 3-2.

MUZAโ€™s hopes of a comeback were dented on the hour mark when Chanda Chileshe was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Substitute Masanyinga sealed the win in stoppage time, capitalising on a rare goalkeeping error to tap into an empty net.

The brace means Shumah has now scored five goals in his last two matches, taking his season tally to 14 league goals, which sees him leading the MTN Super League top scorers chart.

The victory takes Power Dynamos to 51 points, maintaining their five-point lead at the summit while extending their impressive run to nine matches unbeatenโ€”winning eight and drawing one.


At , Nchanga Rangers edged NAPSA Stars 1-0.

Davy Zulu scored the only goal of the match in the 36th minute to secure Rangersโ€™ fourth win in their last five games.

Nchanga finished the match with ten men after Mwiza Siwale was sent off in the 88th minute following a foul.

The defeat leaves NAPSA Stars stuck in the relegation zone with 24 points from 24 matches, sitting 15th on the table.


Meanwhile at , Green Buffaloes and ZANACO played out a 1-1 draw.

Martin Njobvu gave Buffaloes the lead early in the second half, but Eliya Mandanji rescued a point for the Bankers with a late equaliser.

Buffaloes move back into 10th place with 29 points, while ZANACO remain fifth on 38 points.
