The Zambia U-17 national team sealed their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing Region 5 Youth Games in Maseru following a hard fought 1-0 win over Eswatini.
Zambia dominated play from the onset but squandered most of their chances, and were only saved by a fine finish from captain of the side, Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda in the dying minutes of the clash.
Zambia started the campaign with a 2-0 win over the hosts, Lesotho, and have won their two group matches meaning they are through to the semi-finals.
Sabobo was voted as the player of the match his second of the tournament as he looks to be well on the way to win both the golden boot and the player of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Women’s U-17 match against Namibia had to be postponed to Sunday due to a waterlogged pitch as the rain pelted down in the morning.
This now means Namibia will be in action twice in the Girls’ competition on Sunday, first tackling Zambia in their postponed match at 10h00 CAT (08h00 GMT).
They will then have around six hours to recover before they clash with Botswana at 18h00 (16h00 GMT). The top two teams on the log after Sunday’s games will contest the final at 13h00 (11h00 GMT) on Monday.
Zambia lead the goalscorers chart in both categories with Lucy Kajiya in the Girls (2 goals), and Sabobo in the Boys category with three goals.
