The referee didn’t know what he was doing, claims Wada Wada

Chipolopolo Boys coach Wedson Nyirenda has hit out at the Botswana referee who handled the Four Nations Tournament final between Zambia and South Africa.

Zambia lost 2-0 to South Africa on Saturday to pile misery on the embattled Wada Wada.

“I think I don’t like that referee’s decision. He did the same in the Zimbabwe and again today he was the just the same,” Nyirenda said in a post match interview without giving a reason.

“He didn’t know what he was doing,” he added

Zambia national team suffered a two nil defeat to finish second in the final of the four team tournament played at Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Saturday, March 24th.

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau drew first blood in the 15th minute after Toaster Nsabata spilled the ball into his path and the attacker made no mistake as he put South Africa in the driving seat.

South Africa land their trophy

Fashion Sakala, Enock Mwepu and Justin Shonga tried to pull something quickly for the Copper Bullets but to no avail. The defence was in shambles and Percy Tau could have made it two before the break as he found himself with only the keeper to beat but his finishing let him down.

Coach Wedson Nyirenda Nyirenda made a number of changes with Lazarous Kambole coming in for Brian Mwila, Enerst Mbewe for Fashion Sakala, Ronald Kampamba for Augustine Mulenga and Emmanuel Banda for Solomon Sakala but they could not help Chipolopolo.

Second half substitute Lebo Motiba put the match beyond Zambia when he got on the end of a Keagan Dolly pass to score Bafana Bafana’s second goal.

Earlier Angola beat Zimbabwe on post match to penalties to finish third after their match ended 2-2.

  1. Kamanga! LET WADA GO NOW, HE HAS DONE HIS PART. WE NEED A COACH THAT ALL THE PLAYERS ARE GOING TO RESPECT. I SAY SO BECAUSE SOME PLAYERS IN THE TEAM FEEL THEY HAVE MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN THE COACH, AND THAT IS A FACT IT HAPPENS EVERYWHERE. WADA HAS DIFFERENCES WITH SOME SENIOR PLAYERS BECAUSE HE FEELS THEY DON’T RESPECT HIM AND HE HAS TO FLEX HIS MUSCLE TO SHOW THEM WHO IS THE BOSS (LEAVING THEM OUT OF THE TEAM). TO ME THAT IS JUST HAVING AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX ON THE PART OF WADA. THE COUNTRY MUST NOT SUFFER BECAUSE OF WADA’S EGO.

  2. Nyirenda knows nothing about who to start the game and who should be benched when it comes to final games
In short he sold the game to South Africa. Rodrick was tired but he let him play and substitute a veteran Solomon. I think it’s his time to go fire him . White man with experience no just because he’s white. Team kalaba, Mbola, and c. Lungu those have to back.

  3. Wada…bola yamu komboni no longer works!!!;Tactics and not a bench with finished players like Moses Sichone will win games! So this is what you called ” the best” team you can assemble?/As we all know you have no plan B, no defence, no strikers!

  4. I have supported Wada Wada on many occasions having seen that he was not aptly supported by FAZ but this time around I could not raise my voice from the begining because I saw leakages in team selection Honestly speaking there are some players I, for one ,have been tracking and know for sure that they can inject a sense of depth and experience into the team; Please forget their shortcomings in their charecters as these can dealt with by the Fathers in the team. For me these are the players I feel should be included if we are to yield any results in any competetive game, the list is as bellow:
    1. James Chamanga; We need him at this time, remember how Roger Milla inspired Cameroun to winning ways.
2.Stophilla Sunzu; He is an experienced defender we have as at now who enjoys game time.
3.Evans Kangwa; I have been watching the Boy He has mature movements and passes than most of the young Boys, they need to learn from him.
    4. Emmanuel Mbola; I have also been watching him with his team hopoel Ranana, the Boy has matured and better than some of the limping defenders.
    5. Rainford Kalaba; despite his indisciplined behaviour which I know can be cured, His movements on the ball are unmatched and can be used as a major game changer.
    6. Donashano Malama; What prompted the Morrocan club Olympique Club de Khouribga to buy him and he has been playing in almost all the games? The player is an asset in midfield we saw how He perfomed at CHAN.
    7. Kabaso Chongo; He is well exposed and very experienced, With defense I would candidly say most of it has to do with experience.
    8. Nathan Sinkala; He is gifted in this area and Chipolopolo need Him together with his experience.
9.Winston Kalengo; The technical bench can gauge how fit He is but I know the player like Chamanga can produce a miracle on his day.

Furthermore, South Africa is a very tactically and technically disciplined team and at all times they have beaten us we were very tactically and technically cripled. Zambia has a plethora of talent in soccer but our technical aptittude leaves much to be desired that is why our players don’t survive in Europe. We need to overhaul our technical team any Coach needs a stronger backbone as in his technical team.
Our Team selection is not based on merit(Consideration of a player’s abilities with regards to the opponent). for example The Coach on Sunday might have gumbled with the Young and speedy Charles Zulu to stretch the defense of Bafana Bafana and interpolate him with either Augustine Mulenga or Ernest Mbewe. We need to invest in our players and stop blaming the match officials!

    • FOR SURE, I REALLY SUPPORT YOU. WE NEED THE EXPERIENCE AND BRANDED THEM WITH THE YOUNG BOYS. LET THE COACH PAIR MWEPU AND KALABA.

  5. Only incompetent managers blame the referee and not their tactics. Just fire them all including the FAZ Executive.

  6. Wada you’re the one who didn’t what you where doing. . .you’re such a failure and a loser to even blame the referee for such a boring komboni team. Chi coach cha mu komboni!!!!!
