Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s Super League side, Queens Academy trio of defender Esther Siamfuko, Lilian Mwaba, and Cecilia Chanda have been today joined the workforce, the club has announced.

The trio has been employed by Queens Royal Academy School the mother company of Queens Academy Football Club. School Administrator Canicious Mumba confirmed the development of the ZamFoot Crew.

“Today on 31st of August Queens Royal Academy school which is the mother of Queen Sports Academy has employed the following players; Esther Siamfuko Lilian Mwaba, and Cecilia Chanda to be members of staff as a way of motivating and encouraging to be productive and responsible citizens.

This is just the beginning as we are looking forward to starting to help our players gain financial independence. The contract was signed in the presence of the school Administrator Mr. Canicious Mumba, The two senior teachers Mr. William Moono and Mrs. Mwenya, and the team General secretary Mr. Lishebo Mwenda.”

The trio will work in different departments of the school to help with the smooth running of the learning institution and help them earn extra income. It will however not affect their training schedule as they will attend afternoon sessions when they knock off.

Siamfuko is a former Zambia U-17 captain and was part of the Copper Queens squad that participated in the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The club has been heavily involved in working towards the self-sustainability of both the club and its players. In June last year, the proprietor and FAZ Women’s national representative Col Priscilla Katoba initiated a project to have Queens build a  Chicken run to help them increase their income base.

Two months later the Academy bought land for construction of the Academy’s premises and other facilities. The land situated along the Kabwe/Ndola road just after Chindwin Barracks is expected to house several facilities including pitches, dormitories, and a sizable shopping center for the comfort of the players.

Queens Academy is currently 6th on the log table with 23 points from 17 games played so far.
