Power fans denounce violence and hooliganism

It is with deep regret, that the Power Dynamos F.C Fans Forum (PDFC-FF) is compelled to issue a statement about the violent act of some fans during the Power – ZESCO game, played under floodlights on 9th July, 2015 at Arthur Davies.

The Power Dynamos F.C Fans Forum wish to condemn in the strongest possible terms the violence which was exhibited by some sections of the fans on Thursday evening. After ZESCO scored the second goal, some fans hurled missiles on the pitch which led to a thirteen minute stoppage. The match was almost abandoned until about 90% of the fans left the stadium, play was allowed to continue in order to complete the last five minutes of the game.

As the umbrella body of the PDFC affiliated fans groups, PDFC Fans Forum would be failing in its duties if the appalling events of 9th July, 2015 go without comment. PDFC Fans Forum therefore wishes to denounce any forms of violence at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Less than three months ago this year, on 25th April to be specific, PDFC-Fans Forum organized a match against Mighty Mufurila Wanderers fans to curtain raise the main match. The objective of that initiative was to sensitize fans against the dangers of hooliganism. Further, article 4, section vi of the Power Dynamos F.C Fans Forum constitution is clear about our objectives and position on hooliganism. I quote “To educate Power Dynamos fans on the dangers of hooliganism, and effectively implement measures that shall address hooliganism and any forms of indiscipline before, during and after PDFC games.”

With that said, PDFC Fans Forum would like to issue a strong warning to all fans with violent and hooliganistic tendencies and to any would-be offenders. If you are not ready to stay sane at Arthur Davies Stadium, please stay away.

Power Dynamos Football Club was founded on the ideals of civilization. It is for this reason that over the years, both the club and its fans have earned a reputation of being peaceable, tolerant and a model for sportsmanship.

No doubt, what happened on the evening of 9th July has changed an important course of history for Power Dynamos.

Finally, we appeal to all well-meaning fans to help curb this vice which is so foreign to the ideals of Power Dynamos yet fast showing its ugly face on the once serene Arthur Davies. Let us work together to stop violence and hooliganism at Arthur Davies.

Yes, together we can restore the peace at Arthur Davies Stadium which not too long ago was the envy of other clubs.

Abash Violence and Hooliganism, Abash!!!!

  1. Way to go ba neighbour! Little wonder it’s been over a year since we heard of violence at Nkana Stadium, ut surprising only at away matches..

  2. I hear among those entertaining hooliganism are some officials one of them locked the gate in order to allow some media not enter but allowed some irate fans until they pleaded with him. Abash hooliganism, and another thing I hate is booing on the visitors most especially when our national team is playing.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says Mukuka Mulenga is part of his plans this season has not been intentionally left out of his five-day training camp to Zambia.

Mosimane said on Monday afternoon upon arrival with Sundowns at Simon Mwansa Kapwepewe International Airport that Mukuka has been released for international duty.

“Mukuka has been with us the whole week but we have just released him for the Under-23 national team,” Mosimane said.

“I think it is better for him to help his country qualify for the Olympics than to play a friendly game.”

Mukuka is part of the Zambia Under-23’s 2015 CAF Under-23 Cup first leg, final round qualifier against Cote d’Ivoire on July 19 in Lusaka.

The midfielder has returned to Sundowns after a season long loan at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Zambia first-choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is part of the 31-member team that flew into Ndola on a chartered flight from Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, Sundowns will play three friendlies during their five-day camp.

They face Mufulira Wanderers at Arthur Davies on Tuesday in Kitwe and Nkana on Wednesday at Nkana Stadium before wrapping up their camp on Thursday against their hosts Zesco United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
