Players Abroad: Clatous Chota Chama on target

Zambian players abroad were in action over the weekend with Clatous Chota Chama scoring the all-important goal for Simba SC who managed a 1-0 away win in the CAF Champions League.

It was mixed results for the Chipolopolo Boys with a number of them not even involved in their teams’ matches.

In South Africa, Striker Gamphani Lungu put in a full shift for Supersport United who edged Maritzburg United 2-1 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Chipolopolo goalkeeper Sebastian Mwange was in goal for Maritzburg.

At Mbombela Stadium, Striker Chitiya Mususu was left out of the TS Galaxy matchday squad for the 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows.

At Orlando Stadium, Austin Muwowo’s absence from the matchday squad continues as he missed out again. The Buccaneers played to a 1-1 draw with Baroka FC.

Midfielder Nathan Sinkala was on the losing end as his Stellenbosch was handed a 3-0 bashing by Mamelodi Sundowns. Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was an unused substitute for the Brazilians.

Winger Augustine Mulenga put in an 83-minute shift for Amazulu as they held Cape Town City to a 1-1 draw at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium in Durban. There was no room for Charles Zulu in the matchday squad.

Justin Shonga was a second-half substitute for TTM who shared spoils with Chippa United thanks to a 1-1 draw.

In DRC, Kabaso Chongo put in a full shift for TP Mazembe who recorded a routine 2-0 win over Bazano. Rainford Kalaba was a second-half substitute while Tandi Mwape was withdrawn in the 87th minute after suffering an injury following a clash with a Bazano player.

In the GladAfrica Championship, Former Chipolopolo Boys striker Collins Mbesuma put in a full shift for University of Pretoria (Amatuks) who edged Richards Bay 1-0.

In Tanzania, Midfielder Clatous Chota Chama scored the only goal of the game as Simba SC edged Plateau United 1-0 in their first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

In Austria, Enock Mwepu was a second-half substitute for Redbull Salzburg in their big 8-2 win over St. Pölten. Sekou Koita and Dominik Szoboszlai scored a hat-trick each with Karim Adeyemi and Mergîm Berisha netting a goal apiece.

Striker Patson Daka is still out injured but is nearing a return and maybe back as soon as midweek for the trip to Russia for the UEFA Champions League.

In Belgium, Fashion Sakala missed KV Oostende’s 3-1 defeat to Kortrijk.

In Israel, Lameck Banda was substituted in the first half for Maccabi Netanya who played to a goalless draw with Ironi Kiryat Shmona.

Elsewhere, Midfielder Ngosa Sunzu put in a 53-minute shift for Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam who managed a 3-0 win over Sektzia Nes Tziona in the Israeli first division, the Liga Leumit.

In Poland, Wing Wizard Lubambo Musonda put in a full shift for Śląsk Wrocław who returned to winning ways as they beat Podbeskidzie 2-0.

In Russia, Klings Kangwa put in a full shift for Arsenal Tula who held Zenit St Petersburg to a goalless draw at the Stadion Arsenal in Tula.

Evans Kangwa is still out nursing an injury.

In Sweden, Edward Chilufya put in a 68-minute shift for Djurgadens IF who succumbed to a 2-1 loss Mjällby. Emmanuel Banda was an unused substitute.

In Ukraine, Shemmy Mayembe was a second-half substitute for FC Minai who suffered a big 3-0 defeat at the hands of FC Zorya Luhansk.
