Players Abroad : Barbra, Daka, Shonga and Mwape Musonda find the back of the net

Zambian players abroad were in action this weekend with Mwape Musonda netting his sixth goal in straight games. Justin Shonga scored a beauty of a free kick while Patson Daka scored a spectacular volley.

In South Africa, Mwape Musonda’s Black Leopards hosted Orlando Pirates and Justin Shonga started for Pirates while Musonda was leading Leopards attack. The former Nkwazi striker put Pirates in the lead just after 32 minutes with a beautifully taken free kick.

The lead only lasted for eight minutes as Musonda netted his sixth goal to level matters. Leopards went on to win the match on post match penalties and book a place in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.

Elsewhere, Donashano Malama was an unused substitute for Chippa United who stunned Mamelodi Sundowns by two goals to one.

 

Former Power dynamos defender Billy Mutale put in a decent ninety minute shift but was on the losing end as Supersport United suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Cape Town City.

In Austria, Striker Patson Daka scored the only goal of the game as Redbull Salzburg claimed a one nil win over Czech Republic side Slavia Prague in a friendly match. Midfield ace Enock Mwepu put in a 45 minute shift.

In Belgium, Fashion Sakala put in an impressive 82 minute shift for KV Oostende who suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Club Brugge.

In France , Zambian defensive kingpin Sunzu Stoppila put in a 90 minute shift for the FC Metz side that drew 0-0 with AC Ajaccio in a French Ligue 2 encounter.

Emmanuel Banda is expected to be in action this evening when AS Beziers take on Paris FC in a league 2 encounter.

In Denmark
Former SouthHampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka is in Turkey with Danish Superliga side SønderjyskE who are assessing him at their training camp.

In Israel, Zambian LeftBack Emmanuel Mbola put in a full 90 minutes shift for Bnei Sakhnin in the 1-0 defeat to Maccabi Petah Tikva.

In Poland , Slask Wroclaw’s friendly match with Pohang Steelers was cancelled hence the players had an internal game and Lubambo Musonda scored a goal for the winning team (Luba rehearsing for the task ahead).

In Spain, Zambia Women’s National Team forward Barbara Banda scored her sixth goal of the season but was on the losing end as her team, EDF Logrono gave up a one nil lead to lose 2-1 in their League encounter against Valencia.

  1. It was nice to watch the all Zambian affair in the Nedbank cup (South African version of the FA cup) when both Mwape Musonda and Justin Shonga scored. Justins freekicks are just something else. The diversity of his freekicks, sometime low, sometimes high, sometimes curlers from the left sometimes curlers from the right…..It must be the most frustrating thing for defenders to know who is going to take the free kick but have no idea what he is going to do next. I hope this sudden resurgence of Mwape Musonda continues. Yes some will argue that although he scores he needs 3 to 4 chances before he gets one but still six goals in six games!!!!….that’s an amazing return for any striker.
