Since Andrew Kamanga took over as FAZ President in 2016, eight coaches have been in-charge of the Chipolopolo Boys.
Below the ZamFoot Crew takes a look at how the coaches fared.
Aggrey Chiyangi (2019–2020)
Arguably Kamanga’s most successful coach despite just being roughly less than 12 month in charge.
Chiyangi qualified Zambia to the CHAN 2021 tournament.
But unhappy fans nearly stoned the Chipolopolo after sweating to subdue Eswatini by a one goal margin. Fans cheered ESwatini coach Kosta Papic.
Chiyangi was jeered and had to leave the Heroes Stadium in a “Trojan Horse” to be shielded from stoning by irate fans.

Guided Zambia to the Zambia to Cosafa 2019 triumph courtesy of a Tapson Kaseba winner as the Copper Bullets won their 6th regional title.
Paved way for Micho and was denied the chance to coach Zambia at the CHAN tournament.
This was after losing two qualifiers 5-0 to Algeria and Zimbabwe 1-2 for our neighbors first competitive win Lusaka.
To be fair, Chiyangi was joined by George Lwandamina and Numba Mumamba in the two match disaster that dented the 2021 Africa Cup qualification race.

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević (2020–2021)
When the Serbian was finally confirmed as Chipolopolo Boys gaffer back in February 2020 there was a sigh of relief among fans and a lot were hopeful, a new day had come for the National team.
Micho was not FAZ’s first choice, Former City of Lusaka boss Vaselin Jelušic was primed to take over but the Government refused to grant him a work permit.
From day one Micho sold the football ‘crazy’ Zambians a dream of success but it was mostly all talk and little action.
But after over 20 games in charge, the only thing he had to show for his promises was a poor record.

His major talking point was his row with Kabaso Chongo.
Zambia failed to quality to the 2021 AFCON.
He reached the quarter-final of the CHAN but lost to eventual winners Morocco.
He famously eked out a famous 3-3 draw with Algeria in Lusaka after going 2-0 down.
He withdrew 2012 Africa Cup winner Nathan Sinkala in the first half and turn the match around.
Managed to guide Zambia to a 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in what was essentially a dead rubber.
But his undoing was failure to defend the COSAFA Cup won by Chiyangi and his selections were called into question.

Beston Chambeshi (2021–2022)
Short term fix as Chambeshi was drafted in for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Was joined by Asanovic on the technical bench in 2021 but again Zambia failed to mount any meaningful challenge.
Chambeshi was again sidelined as the Croatian was handed a four deal.

Aljosa Asanovic (2022)
Came in highly recommended from the Croatian FA but Asanovic wasn’t just good enough.
Zambia played disjointed football under him.
He left Zambia level on 3 points with Comoros after 2 matches as the race for the 2023 AFCON hots up.

Failed to qualify for the 2022 edition of CHAN after being dumped by Mozambique at home.
Atleast he will go down as Kamanga’s second successful coach after guiding Zambia to the 2022 Cosafa Cup victory thanks to an Albert Kangwanda extra time strike.
Moses Sichone (2022 – present)
The former Zambia defender has been in- charge of two full matches so far.
